Pours nice and dark. Some roast, chocolate and trace of coffee. A nice alternative when at the beach in Jamaica.

This is now back in my local Tesco. Drinkable stout although rather sweet and sticky, doesnít really feature any of the aspects I associate with this type of beer.

300ml bottle from LCBO, Parkway Mall, Scarborough, ON. 7.5 alc. / vol. Pours an opaque dark brown colour with one finger of tanned head. Flavour is much better than the aroma. Notes of coffee and peaches with a metallic finish. Moderate carbonation. Aroma of rusty iron.

Beese (1822) - Watford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - AUG 26, 2014
Bottle share at GBBF 2014. Poured a very, very dark brown, with a dense beige head. Aroma of malt, berries and dark rum. Treacle in the flavour, with honeycomb and a good measure of roasted malt. Finish was burnt sugar, port and stem ginger.

Nose is muted, sugar, lactose, malt. Taste is typical West Indian Stout; very sweet, brown sugar, milk, cola, coco. Mouthfeel a touch thin. Itís a nice example of the regionís drinks, but I will always find them too sweet.

330ml bottle from a random London off-license. Seen this so many times on the shelves of London corner shops and ignored it looking for more interesting beers. Today for reasons I still donít know my curiosity got the better of me. And itís not actually that bad. Sweet malt aroma, taste is dark treacle, chocolate, dark fruits and a milkiness lurking behind the shadows. Perfectly fine and drinkable but wonít win any prizes.

Benzai (8360) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - AUG 18, 2014
Bottle shared at ChrisO. Dark brown color, small to average sized beige to light brown head. Smell and taste malts, lightly roasty, sweeter than I expected, slightly a touch of liquorice. Average to medium body and carbonation. Meh, donít really like it.

Erzengel (2645) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - AUG 14, 2014
Bottle found in London. Smooth intense beginning. Quite viscous, intense caramelly. The mainpart is malty, bitter-sweet, smooth, nice. The aftertaste is long, malty-smooth, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, very intense and thick. Not too bitter. Nice!

Classic foreign stout with a dragon on the label. Dark beige foam with reddish hue, thick and lacing, relatively stable; colour a very dark ruby red, near to black, clear. Aroma of cassis, figues, walnuts, whisky, brown sugar, peat, pear syrup, coffee grounds. Taste begins with a restricted sweetness, medium carbonation, turning deeply malty (chocolate, nuts) with dried and candied fruits, light sourishness, ending in a light but sufficiently powerful roasted coffee bitter, though the caramelly, mellow sweetness keeps dominating the whole flavour trail. Interesting and well-balanced, I could have this any day.
