Bottle. This is a bit of fun. Not a beer to take seriously. It’s a sort of comic beer. A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down. It’s not great, it’s not clever, but - apart from raging toothache from the sugar rot, this is an enjoyable ten minutes.

300ml bottle. Pitch black body, with a small mocha head, poor retention. Aroma of raisins, licorice, faint hop, caramel, booze hint. Taste of raisins, caramel, malt, herbal, on the sweet side. Enjoyable.

Dark beer with some mahogany hues around the edges. Frothy tan head. Light, puffed cereal nose. Very sweet stout. There is a simple sweetness to it, like light brown sugar or thinned out malt syrup. Some toast and hints of balance, but really just rough sweetness.

330ml bottle pours black in color with a small light brown head that only leaves a few specks of lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel and dark roasted malts with some mild hop presence. Taste is caramel and light chocolate malty sweetness with some coffee and roasted grain bitterness with hops not present. Medium to heavy body with some llively carbonation. A little sweet for my liking, but still a quality brew that exceeded my expectations.

BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 2, 2012
Sept 2006 from BA: I was very surprised to see this in Shropshire, so got it straight away. It had been in the garage waiting for me to open for about 3 months, I couldn’t put off any longer and i have drank it tonight while watching the rain fall onto my garden. Dark, very dark, with an amber tan head which stayed, but originally a lot thicker and tighter, towards the end it was whispy and thining. Initialy the aroma was strong, but it faded quickly, chocolate and coffee mostly. Sweet, slightly sticky, but not unpleasant, not the sort of stout I would climb over a nude women to get at, but if offered another, I would drink it.

Une grosse présence de canne à sucre se manifeste sans gêne dans cette bière camouflé en RC cola. Pas très sexy mais quand même pas repoussant.

Sweet and roasty aroma. Deep brown in color with no head. The sugar cane his very prominent and probably makes it too sweet.
