Not very good tast is very medicinal and cheap tasting for a big body stout. Pour is black with a medium tan head. Aroma is sweet and malty. Had high hopes for this one was let down. On a trip to San pedro island found this was looking for a bigger beer then belikin stout. Sweet sweet and more sweet.

A very dark beer with a light head. Smell is that of a bitter Stout, not very particularly but almost caramel or molasses. Taste is bitter and pleasant at first, but then quickly becomes overly sweet and almost unnatural. The texture is again poor, flat, watery and not smooth or creamy in particular. Tastes slightly coffee ish, flavours of burnt caramel or molasses but too sweet and not particularly pleasant. Not for me.

Jan. ’16. A 0.284 l bottle from Prosi Exotic supermarket, Vienna. My first Jamaican beer. It poured a very dark brown body with a small brown head. Dry woody aroma, caramel and čokolino (cereal-chocolate instant mix for kids). Roasted malt flavor, lightly sweet but also dry, herbal and woody. Coffee, licorice, cocoa, dark fruits, brown sugar and weak maple syrup. A bit alcoholic, especially in the finish which was more sweet, sugary-cocoa-cappuccino. Smooth on palate and medium bodied. Okay, expected less.

UPDATED: JUN 10, 2016 I thought this was actually quite alright, but I?m probably a pleb who doesn?t use pretentious enough language in my reviews. Had this chilled like a pleb because it was a hot day, might have made a difference.

284 mL bottle shared by ebone1988. Fucking book. What a weird size. The pour is a lighter black, dark brown color with some translucency to it and and but of a ruby hue. There is a really bubbly collar of light khaki head and a few spotty chunks of lace. The aroma is really sweet. There is a lot of dark malts and a sweetness to it. It might have a light chocolate, but it’s really reserved. This isn’t that great. I don’t have high hopes. The flavor is a sugary dark sweetness that doesn’t offer much. It’s light and watery with no lingering flavor of any value. The mouth feel is terrible. Dark sweet malts and water. Ugh. It’s thin and watery with minimal carbonation and a sweet sugary finish. This sucks.

UPDATED: JUN 5, 2016 Bottle shared with koleminer20. Yikes. Damn book. Aroma is chocolate, molasses, roasted malt, ehhhh. Appearance is dark brown, light tan head, poured thin. Taste is sweet, slight milk chocolate, malt, very very basic, not much to this at all. Mouthfeel is medium body, watery, light carbonation, light roasted malt aftertaste. Overall, this is a very very bland beer.

Small bottle. Weird fake-ish sweet notes on the nose with hints of metallic-icity? Thin and overcarbonated, caramel and sugar more than roast. Not deep. Not good. WTF?

300 ml bottle from LCBO. BB 22.09.2017. Pours brown with light beige head. Aroma of... dark lager... roasty-ish malts, molasses and metallic notes, grains... Tastes even worse - fake sugary character with faint roastiness. Palate dry and light - almost watery - with weak carbonation. Faint herby bitterness in the finish. Overall it’s more like an oversugared Dunkel than a Foreign Stout. Or any Stout for that matter. Why’s this rated so high?!? For a 45/100 beer I would’ve expected something much better. It’s crap to be honest.

9.6 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 10/30/2015. Pours clear nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, toasted brown bread, caramel, brown sugar, and herbal; with light nuttiness, licorice, raisin, plum, pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, toasted brown bread, caramel, brown sugar, and herbal; with light nuttiness, licorice, raisin, plum, pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, toasted brown bread, caramel, brown sugar, dark fruits, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from roast/hop bitterness as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly creamy/grainy, and lightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice Tropical-styled Foreign stout. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Pours deep inpenetratable brown color with thick and strong cocoa foam. Aromas are bit confusing, bit sour, reminds of champagne or wine? Bit vinigary although has very subtile coffee smell. Palate, medium body with thin texture leaving sour aftertaste? Taste is sour, vinigary bit like wine. Overall, not sure if it was infected? I hope so, otherwise it is awful beer that would seem like they just shover truck load of sugar to increase alcohol % to 7.5% although it tastes like 4% just sweet sour and awful.

300 ml. bottle. Thanks Greg. Pours dark brown with a decent beige head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, and malt. Taste is roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, and some dark fruit. Mild bitterness. Decent.
