Grand Crus are traditionally known as "The best beer that a brewery makes." This Belgian-style quad lives up to that name and then some. Available once a year, in May to celebrate our Anniversary.

On tap. Pours a dark copper with thin white head. Aroma of caramel, dark dried fruit, and sugar. Flavor is surprisingly smooth, almost dangerously, with a nice sweetness, spice, dried fruit, and slight malt and wheat. Alcohol is too well hidden and the bartender told me today that it is believed to be 13% this year. Awesome.

On tap at the Dragonmead Brew Pub. Poured an amberish color with no head. Fruity, bananas, dark fruits, and candi sugar.

Aroma of bubblegum and red fruit. Appears clear copper, no foam or lace. Tastes like bubblegum, some alcohol, and a hint of bitter hay. Texture is ordinary, a little watery. Overall, great at room temperature, ok when cold, it is a sin to drink this cold.

Tap. Dark amber. No head or lace. Thinnish, almost like juice. Slight aroma of banana. Very, very boozey. Strong red berry taste, mild dark fruit and candi sugar qualities. ABV sort of overpowers this beer until it warms up. Then bubblegum, balanced. Drink at room temperature!

Has a murky copper color with a healthy white foam. Smells yeasty sweet. Tastes of honey, not too sweet. The bottom begins to taste a bit sickly sweet. Not as good as most tripels I’ve had, but still tasty.

750ml bottle, shared by beerpig317. Clear orange amber color. Thin off-white, beige head. Not much lace sticks. Bigger body. Smooth, lightly soft lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Some warmth in the finish, but no burn nor bite. Dark fruit, caramel malt, candy sugar, some apricot. Moderate sweet taste, some alcohol warmth. Dry finish. Solid, big quad.

2012 bomber to glass. Really complex dried dark fruit flavors mixed with caramel and candied flavors. A lot going on in a good way.

Bottle thanks to mikem409: This bottle was very angry at me, first the cork was stuck and after several attempts to remove I had to dig it out with a knife. In the mean time the carbonation had sprung into action. Poured a murky coppery brown with a huge lacing head. Aroma is strong fruit with some malts and metallic. Very hot forward alcohol with boozy sticky fruit with loads of caramel malt.

750 ml bottle into chalice, no bottle dating(but likely well over a year old). Pours extremely hazy dark reddish brown color with a fairly dense 1 finger off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Some slight spotty lacing on the glass, with a small amount of carbonation streaming up. Cork did not pop after opening, I have a feeling this is pretty aged; though I did seem to get some decent carbonation. Aromas of prune, raisin, fig, molasses, caramel, toast, candi sugar, toffee, clove, earth, pepper, biscuit, and light yeast spices. Pretty nice aromas with good balance and complexity; a little cloying sweet smelling. Taste of prune, raisin, cherry, toast, caramel, molasses, biscuit, clove, earth, toffee, light chocolate, candi sugar, light pepper, and yeast spiciness. Lingering notes of dark fruit, caramel, toffee, clove, earth, toast, biscuit, and yeast spices on the finish for a good bit. Good flavor balance and complexity; with minimal cloying sweetness. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a fairly slick and creamy mouthfeel that is good(with just enough carbonation to make it fit the style). Alcohol is very well hidden at 11% with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very enjoyable Belgian quad style. Nice flavor balance and complexity; and very smooth to sip on for the gravity. Well done.

Tasting at Papsø’s, corked bottle
Orange-amber color, cloudy, with small sized head. Sweetish malt flavor, with some fruitiness. Sweet malt flavor, some oak, some astringency, quite high alcohol perception, ripe fruits. Not bad, but messy.

Very hazy amber brown beer. Low carbonation, dry palate. Dry and lightly spicy malt with some bubblegum sweetness. Flavoursome - pulls together well albeit with the obvious aniseed. Also a little butterscotch caramel in there. Somewhat let down by an over dry finish.
