COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
If you like your beer on the bitter side than this one's for you. This American Style IPA uses Pale Ale, Munich, and Caramunich malt blest with Cascade, Chinook, Williamette and Centennial (dry hopped) hops to create a brew that is fit for the crazy American hop addicts.

First off let me say that I am disapointed by Dragonmeads brews at the present. I have gotten the impression that with the prices of their ingredients going sky high, they have cut back on the quantity of their ingredients in their brews. The end result is much weaker than usual brews. The aromas and flavors all appeared weak IMHO. With that said, on to the rating. This draft brew from the brewery poured a large sized head of foamy finely sized white colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a transparent softly carbonated light orange brown colored body and an excellent lacing. The almost non-existant aroma was mild hop. thin semi-flat . The mild flavor contained notes of mild hops. Not one that I would likely buy again.

Draft. Aroma is hoppy more towards the grass. Thin head, deep amber color. Bitter taste but seems a little off.

draft... a really substandard ipa not worth trying, tasted a bit old but that was only one of their problems

Sample at Dragonmead on 7/23/11. Pours amber in color with a medium beige head. Hoppy aroma that is dank, grassy and earthy. Grain and corn flavor with a dank earthy hop finish.

Tap at Dragonmead. Deep amber, slightly hazy pour. The nose is dull with a soft fruitiness. Light orangey cascade hops. Light worty sweetness along with a touch of astringency on the back. Not really hoppy at all... ugh.

Tap @ Dragonmead - sweet burnt toffee and caramel. Not sure how this is an IPA. Sweet and murky but hardly any dry hopping to speak of.

Draft… RBSG 2010… Hazy amber ale with a mid-sized, creamy, off-white head. Excellent retention. The restrained bouquet is of caramel and praline with an afterthought of grapefruity hops. Full-bodied and creamy with mild carbonation. More sweet than bitter. Flavorful hops and flavorful malts – caramel and toffee with just a touch of grapefruit bitterness. Bittersweet finish. Tasty, but not much of an American IPA. More of an English IPA using American hops.

Weak Aroma for an IPA, floral. Bitterness was a bit weak. This beer is good compared to most commercial beers but lacks when compared to micro-brewed IPAs.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear golden yellow with a white head. Aroma of a little citrus, but mostly caramel malt. Flavor of plain caramel, sweet malt. Not hoppy at all, just a watery palate with sweet malt and sweet fruits. Meh, not impressed with this one. 6/4/6/3/11 [3.0/5]

Draft 1/2 pint at the brewpub. Very light in color with minimal head. Medium in body with a silky mouthfeel. The beer has a light earthy hop character. Not bad. (#3827, 1/28/2010)

Big thanks to my sister Lori for sending down a growler of this. My sister ROCKS! Pours copper with gold edges and adequate off white head. The aroma has spicy hops, a thin layer of orange hard candy, earthiness and some malty sweetness. The aroma comes together creating a sense of dirty celery and citrus (?). The taste starts with spicy hops running from flavor to bitter hoppy spiciness. It then begins to pick up earthiness and malt sweetness. By midway notes of sweet orange flavored hard candy are noticed and carries this a bit oddly into the finish. A typical off kilter unusual brew from Dragonmead.
