COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Castlebrite is the first fruit beer to come from Dragonmead. This Apricot Ale uses an apricot puree as well as Pale Wheat malt to bring about this wonderfully refreshing brew. This beer starts with a subtle sweetness and slight apricot flavor, and finishes with a palate-cleansing tartness that will leave you wanting more.

draft... the one beer of my flight that I figured would be the worse turned out to be my favorite, thought it was just another generic fruit wheat beer not at all... the aroma is very nice, captures the true essence of apricot with a bit of a sour note as well... the taste is a touch boring as the apricot is a little generic but try this if you go

On tap at Dragonmead. Poured a golden color with a smaller sized head. Yep, Apricots. Other than that, not too much more going on.

First off let me say that I am disapointed by Dragonmeads brews at the present. I have gotten the impression that with the prices of their ingredients going sky high, they have cut back on the quantity of their ingredients in their brews. The end result is much weaker than usual brews. The aromas and flavors all appeared weak IMHO. With that said, on to the rating. This draft brew from the brewery poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized white colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a dark yellow-orange colored body and a fair lacing. The mild aroma was bready and apricot. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The thin flavor contained notes of breads and apricot. A decent one but not one that I would consider buying again.

Very light in color, light head. tastes very fruity but is not overwhelming. quite refreshing. a lip smacker of sweetness. Id drink it again, but not often

On tap: Kind of a grassy and sour apricot aroma. Orangish-gold with an insignificant white head. Weak initial apricot flavor mixed in with some wheat flavors. Finishes rather sour. Some funny taste lingers in the background that I can’t pinpoint.

Tap: Murky golden orange with no head. Aroma all apricot. Apricot flavor from beginning to end. Decent lacing. Would drink again.

2004 draught. A hazy apricot orange, translucent with a small white head. Aroma of deep, rich apricots, some light wheat and a hint of hops and yeast. So far so good. Flavor is very chewy and meaty, it’s like they left the apricots in there and just ground them up. The wheat and apricots mix well and create a chewy texture, with an almost cheesy like flavor. Finishes pretty quickly though with some papery tasting hops on the end, somewhat watery but overall I enjoyed this one a good amount.
