On tap. Pours a slightly amber gold with thick off-white head. Aroma strong of citrus hops, caramel, and some sweet fruits. Flavor is similar, quite complex. I detect a bit for frutiness than in the aroma, but pretty nice. I havenít found any barley wines that I truly love yet, but of what I have tried to date, I would put this on the same footting as Bigfoot.

On-tap at Dragonmead. Appearance: A brown sort of color with a thin layer of foam on top. A lot of clarity. It looks decent. Smell: Decidedly hoppy, but also with a nice caramel sweetness. I wouldnít say you really get the alcohol on the nose but you get the feeling that the ABV is high on it. Pretty nice. A lot of hops, but not so much that you think itís an IPA. Taste: Tasty. This is described as being "intensely bitter" or something along those lines, and thereís a super sharp hop bitterness, but itís not brutal thanks to a fair amount of balance from the caramel malts. Itís certainly not a balanced beer overall (more hoppy, which I was expecting), but I liked it. I hadnít had an American Barleywine before this one that I really liked all that much, aside from Bigfoot from Sierra Nevada. The mouthfeel is pretty nice, but a bit more body would be welcome. I was going between a 3.75 and a 4 overall and I went up on it because, again, this is one of the better American Barleywines Iíve had.

Draft at brewery. Pour is an orange, copper, red. Vibrant. Aroma is subtle. The taste is very smooth and can see how they say this is a drinkable barleywine, it is. Has the undernotes of a typical barleywine, but at the same time very different. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sample at Dragonmead on 7/23/11. Clear copper pour with a medium off-white head. Nose of caramel, berries and earthy hops. Caramel malt flavor up front giving way to a lot of fruitiness before a grassy hop finish.

On tap at Dragonmead. Strong, sweet, and sugary, this full flavored barleywine has a great honey bitterness. Sticky sweet aftertaste. Solid lacing. Excellent.

On tap at the Dragonmead Brew Pub. Poured a medium amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, earthy, citrus, and dome fruitiness. Tastes of caramel, toffee, citrus, and fruity. Softer and smooth body with the alcohol content well hidden. Lacing left on the glass.

At the BBB63 comes to Tampa gathering, thanks to Ibrew2or3 ís sister for the growler.

Coppery hue with small head and spotty lace. The aroma has notes of apricot and pear esters, grassy and herbal hops, biscuity malt, dirty and medicinal vapours. The taste is caramel sweet and fruity with a musty grain, veggie, and band-aid overtone. A little salty too. The mouth feel is soft and warming. URGGH, missing punch and has noticeable flaws.

Thanks again to Ibrew2or3 ís sister for the growler. Poured a light copper color with a thin even white head. Earthy hops, some alcohol, light spicy caramel aroma. Subdued but pleasant taste, both hops and malt apparent along with a dose of alcohol. Peppery finish. Nice and balanced.
