3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Deep coppery red body, medium tan head. Strong buttery diacetyl aroma, bready but with an emphasis on buttered popcorn. This characteristic dominated the flavor profile, too, which was otherwise cerealy and quite sweet, with an interestingly light emphasis on hops for this style. Lacks bitterness. The diacetyl was way too strong but this wasnít a drainpour. However, for the diacetyl-phobic among us...

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12 oz Bottle. A quieted hop sugar aroma, glowering with lemons and spice marinade. Nice and nuanced. Piney. A decent aroma. Pours this side of ruddied amber, with a silken draping of birch. Flavor is surprisingly boring. Thereís a cracker-like malt sweetness, running amongst a nip of honey and sherry. Heat. Hops run away in fright. Where did the hops and bitterness go? This has a humulus profile of a APA or an aged Barleywine. Fresh tasting at least. Earthy. Thin and soapy. Meh.

This beer was a little more palatable as it warmed, but still wasnít good.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Orangish reddish pour with this white head. Sweet toffee with herbal hops in the aroma. Flavor is toffee and caramel sweetness with a perfumy hop note. A bit of an herbal hop bite. It really tastes like this beer has a lot of potential but is ruined by a weird bottling issue. Plastic in the finish.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a dark, slightly hazy golden amber with a fairly thick and quite persistent pale tan head. Strong aroma is quite hoppy and has hints of grapefruit and, interestingly enough, honey-like sweetness. Flavor is hoppy and a little bitter, with a hint of grapefruit and just a whisper of honey. Texture is quite fizzy and tingly, leaving behind a hoppy and tingly finish.

12oz bottle from dmschefke, thanks Dave. Hazy orangish/brown color with a nice white head. Mild hop aroma, really light actually. Decent hop bite, much better than the armoma, some maltiness as well. Decent

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Notes from heemer77ís January í07 tasting. Hazy orange caramel with a moderate yellow light beige head. Aroma had an odd plastic aroma (like that of the El Toro Stout), perfumey and floral hops, and some toffee. Flavor had big bitterness and some strong perfumey hops, and fairly astringent. Light to medium body, moderate carbonation. So-so.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
12oz bottle via trade with Duane! - Thanks! - Pours dark brownish red with a fair creamy beige head that stays well and laces the sides of the glass. Aromas of malts surprisingly. Caramel, toffee, and a slight nose of the citrus hops but really not much.. Flavor oddly like soap suds to me.. Some caramel there and slight orange but overall some odd soapy flavor. Palate seems pretty solid with a somewhat sticky mouthfeel. Oddly barleywine like to me.. I didnít like this much really..

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Fairly dark pour for an IPA... almost a brown color with a massive bubbly head that has required multiple passes to empty the bottle completely into the glass. Aromas are of caramel malts and citrus hops... grapefruit. Flavor is OK... there is definitely a hops driven lead, but the malt is strong enough to support it and it balances out fairly nicely. That said, the flavor could be a little fuller and more beefy. I wonít say it is watery, but itís not as full as it should be. Fairly refreshing.
