3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle pours dark red color with off white head. Aroma is alcohol and some citrus. There is some malt there, too, so this is an aged bottle. Flavor is more alchohol, slight malt caramel flavor and guava. Very interesting. Medium mouthfeel. Overall an ok brew.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: MAR 22, 2009 Bottle from miketd, thanks man! Poured a deep reddish-amber color with a thick, almost creamy off-white head that stuck around for quite a while. Light biscuity malt on the nose with some spicy floral hops and some light citrus fruit. Lightly bready malt on the entry with some spicy undertones and a light caramel sweetness transitions into a moderately earthy, floral hop finish. Nice mouthfeel and carbonation. A nice tasting beer, but it doesnít seem to fit the IPA category. Solid effort.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a lightly hazed copper brown, topped by two inches of light tan suds. Good head retention and adequate lacing. Light mix of caramel and grapefruit in the aroma.
Smooth and creamy caramel malt, with a healthy dose of toasted malt as well. This is deliciously balanced by a spicy-bitter hopping. Medium body and moderate carbonation, there is something about the smoothness that just invites drinking. Better bottled than on tap for some reason.

From the Columbus gathering, brought by bgburdman9. The color threw me for a loop, kind of a red-brownish with a light tan head. The aroma held a variety of different things: brown sugar, bread, and fruit but there didnít seem much there in the way of hops . The flavor again, sweet, bready, rich, and nutty. Had a decent body with some smooth carbonation... not a bad beer. Overall this reminded me more of an english barley wine than an IPA. I wouls like to try this one again and what the difference might be.

A nice to find bonus in a trade with walleye. Iíll echo the fact that this is balanced. There arenít many flavours in this that jump out, and it honeslt looks no different then your average IPA. I wasnít impressed by this beerís flavour, look, or aroma, but was impressed how how good an IPA can be fore daily drinking.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Columbus gathering beer#4. Brought by me. Poured a reddish brown with an avg head. Aroma had a little brown sugar and was overpowered by malts. Also had a little dark fruit come through. Smooth flavor and a little light burn. Unique IPA. Definitely not a west coast style IPA..

(Sampler @ Dragonmead Brewery, Warren, MI): Clear brown color. Small head, whitish. Hoppy aromaj some grapefruit. Not too strong. Hoppy sweet nutty taste, balanced. Slight bitter aftertaste. Tasty but a little sour.

Pretty quality standard ipa. Notice more malt than usual, but I kind of like how its coming across. Quite sweet, with a nice hop backdrop. Wish I picked up more of this stuff.

mirky brown body, creamy white head, lacey, super malty nose, smells like a homebrew ipa, sweet malts, decent hop profile but not enough bitters to ballance of these extreme malts, still good though, very sweet
