3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 hopscotch (8217) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - AUG 11, 2010
Nitro… RBSG 2010… Clear amber ale with orange highlights and a quickly dissipating head. The nose offers esters of banana and pink bubblegum alongside a clove-like phenol and malty notes of toffee, biscuit and caramel. Full-bodied and velvety with soft carbonation. The flavor is spicy-phenolic and sweet… almost to the point of being cloying. As with the finish of many of Dragonmead’s beers, there is no grand finale, per se… just a slow, sweet fade.

Had this on tap at DragonFest 2009. Honestly, this stuff wasn’t that great. And to be frank once more, I’ve never really had anything from this brewery that really blew me away. This poured a darker amber, with small head. The aroma was subtle, as was the flavor. I wouldn’t even call this a dubbel, despite it’s ABV.
3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 MereLikesBeer (195) - Royal Oak, Michigan, USA - JUL 11, 2009
I had this on tap at the brewery. It poured a dark amber color with a very small white head. It had a very sweet aroma, malty, sugar, my friend said it smelled like bubblegum. It tasted great. I am a Belgian fan, and though it wasn’t exactly a big Belgian like I enjoy, it had a great mouthfeel - lightly carbonated with a medium body. I would have this again.
