COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the ultimate Belgian style. The very high gravity of this beer is balanced by the smoothness of its finish. Banana and Clove aromas come from the Belgian yeast strain combining with the generous dose of Belgian Candi Sugar. The Saaz hops help to give this beer a balanced bitterness with no noticeable hop aroma.

UPDATED: JUN 4, 2003 This brew poured a small head of fine to medium sized bubbles and a cloudy orange brown body. It had a fruity aroma with an apricot flavor which was not greatly to my liking.

A truly wondeful beer. Sampled several times over at the Polar Beer Fest. A nice presence of clove, nutmeg and pepper spice up this yeasty, malty treat. This is a liquid meal that is filling and satisfying. Complex and delicious. A beer to have when you are having one. Well-done.

Had it on tap... don't know why my experience was so bad given the good reviews given to this beer. It was watery, no body whatsover; the flavors weren't as robust as most tripels... spicy yeast, banana and clove, yes, but it was very faint; its almost as though they used belgian nutra sweet instead of the candi sugar... wasn't horrible, I gave it an 11 overall, but just not that exciting. Could try it again... but I have better things to do, so screw it.

A good, but not great trippel. The body of this is great - not too heavy, but carrying both the spice and alcohol punch. When I have had this at the brewery, it is far better (fresher?) than at beer bars that I have sampled. If you get the chance to go, hit Dragonmead in Warren, near the top of my "All Time Beer Dive Joints".

Tap. Very clear banana and clove trippel. Light and airy which masks the 10% abv kick on the back side. Much better than the Dead Monk Abbey Ale.

I like this beer quite a lot. It’s very sweet, but not unpleasantly so.

UPDATED: MAR 20, 2004 Excellent Belgian Trippel. The aroma is fantastic and the color beautiful. There are perceptible candy sugar, esters, banana and cloves throughout. They normally bring one 1/2 barrel of this beer to the Michigan Beer Festival every summer, and it is almost always the first empty keg of the festival. Highly recommended.

This beer is on tap at my current local, the Union Grill in Clarkston, Mich. The bartender there says Dragonmeade has 20-30 of its own beers on tap in Warren and intends to remain religious about style. I don’t know about that, but this beer is explosively sweet and redolent with spicy yeastiness (cloves?). There’s a touch of hops not quite balancing it, but it sure is gorgeous in the glass, a fine fiery gold.

Wow, didn’t expect to find this beer here, but thankfully so, here it is. I’m in Auburn, MI. and this beer is on tap in Bay City at the Steinhaus on Water Street across from St. Laurent Brothers Nut House. A fabulous beer, and I agree with ’hennes’, it’s nice to have a brewery that is true to style. The Steinhaus is a ’destination’ because of Final Absolution and other Dragonmeade offerings.

A rather sweet Belgian ale, but it works. I’ve had this a few times and it never disappoints. The best of the Dragonmeade bunch.
