COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the ultimate Belgian style. The very high gravity of this beer is balanced by the smoothness of its finish. Banana and Clove aromas come from the Belgian yeast strain combining with the generous dose of Belgian Candi Sugar. The Saaz hops help to give this beer a balanced bitterness with no noticeable hop aroma.

golden with small head. lighter than most other tripels in color, and seemingly light in flavor as well. there’s some belgian yeast and sweet fruitness, but it doesn’t all mesh well together to me.

I’ve never really been a huge fan of Dragonmead. This one doesn’t change that opinion. With all the breweries in and near Michigan I doubt that I’ll be trying any more unless they are freebies or inexpensive pickups.

Aroma / Appearance - A bronze carbonated body shimmers with a huge crest of clean white head that takes an eternity to settle down. Musty sweat socks dominate what is a heavy aroma. It slowly opens up over time but never becomes cohesive.

Flavor / Palate - Malt drives home a bill of apple cider, cotton candy, and butterscotch. The heaviness lingers from the start and never disappears. There are no huge flaws. However in the end I feel indifferent about this and found myself looking for another more flavorful beer to cap the night.

Pours from the bottle a hazy, deep golden color with a small, clean white head. Aroma hits the nostrils with a lot of banana and a mild amount of clove. Flavor on the other hand has a intense clove presence first but not to the extent where it deters you. A smooth banana flavor kicks in right away with some light grainy and finishes with a light spicy hops kick. Body has a modest amount of density too it with some modest/high amount of carbonation to deliver the flavor and aroma. Overall I was really impressed with this brew. The banana and clover were in perfect balance delivering that great spicy/sweet/fruity combo I love from some tripels. A lot more residual sugars than typically seen for the style but I am a big fan of that wrt tripels. Definitely would not think twice about having again in the future.

Bottle. Pours golden yellow/orange with some sediment. Smell is white grapes, yeast, light sweetness and some tartness. Taste is light fruit, clove, some banana, yeast, mild sweetness. For 10% there isn’t too much noticeable alcohol. Light, semi complex, not overly sweet as some trippels. Quite enjoyed this.

Hazy and somewhat dirty looking amber beer. Light yeasty nose. Fairly dry palate that is also a little crisp. Sweet aromatic malts - typically tripel. Subtle tones of orange and banana. More creamy malt and and minerally aniseed. Soft dry finish. Hangs together very well.

Sample at the brewpub. Slightly hazy yellow-gold pour with a medium thin off-white head that disappears quickly. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of yeast, banana and malt. Medium body with flavors of spicy yeast, bananas and sweet malt. The finish is sweetly spiced with a yeast aftertaste. Decent overall.

12oz bottle...a little too heavy on the candy sugar for my taste as well not enough Belgian ’funk.’ The alcohol is well hidden and this is an overall decent Trippel - just not world class.

Excellent beer, For a very high volume by alchohol rated beer you would never know it. Smooth, that leaves a wonderful aftertaste.
