3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 hellomynameis (867) - Mayer, USA - AUG 26, 2009
Looks kinda syrupy with a dark honey golden colour with some red tossed in. Head is pretty white and ended up being slightly tall and rocky. Biscuit malt and some yeast. Add some spice to the aroma and you have the flavour. Ended up a bit sweet for me. Not bad, just nto very good.

12 ounce bottle into chalice, no bottle dating. Pours cloudy golden amber color with a nice fairly dense 1 finger white head with good retention that reduces to a thin cap. Minimal lacing clings to the glass; and a fair amount of carbonation is streaming up from the bottom. Aromas of heavy clove, banana, bubblegum, lemon, pepper, apricot, candi sugar, bread, and spicy yeast. Some nice and complex aromas going on here; much like a wheat beer in some aspects as well. Taste of big lemon, biscuit, banana, clove, pepper, apricot, tart grain, and spicy yeast. Lingering notes of biscuit, lemon, apricot, pepper, clove, and spicy yeast on the finish for a bit. Nice balance of flavor, with no cloying sweetness. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a lightly syrupy mouthfeel that is not a bad thing at all. Alcohol is well hidden with only a warming on the finish. Good drinkability, but it is still a sipper. Overall this is a very nice Tripel offering. Nice complexity and balance; and very enjoyable stuff.

Draft at Dragonmead. Amber color, murky, almost no head. Balanced taste with sweetness but not too much. Pretty thick... I enjoyed but am not a big fan of this style.

12oz bottle from The Beer Depot in Ann Arbor, MI. Pours a cloudy, golden-orange colored body with a thin, frothy, white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a moderate lacing throughout. Aroma is somewhat fruity with white grapes, orange peels, and apricots along with some esters. Clove, a touch of bubble gum, and bready yeast. Flavor is pretty yeasty and estery up front with a good amount of yeast spice. More white grapes and slightly tart orange peel along with a good amount of clove comes in during the middle. A light wheat and some more bready yeast towards the end before this finishes dry, estery, yeasty spicy, and somewhat alcoholic before leaving a lengthy aftertaste. Medium-light body with a fairly lively carbonation. Overall, a decent trippel. Fairly spicy and estery while being sweet and dry. Not bad.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jgb9348 (3363) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - OCT 15, 2011
Nice super hazy golden coloured body with a bright orange glow and a thin, fast-dying off-white head. Aroma of intense alcohol, coriander seed, yeast, wheat, apricots and sugars. Full-bodied; Deep carbonated taste at first with yeast, wheat and a good fruity flavour noticeable. Aftertaste shows a good complexity with alcohol, yeast, light spices and some dry hay also. Overall, a very nice trip showing a ton of good flavours, a lot of alcohol and some good sweet fruity notes. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 16-January-2011 for US$2.89 sampled at home in Washington on 15-October-2011 the day the Tigers were unfortunately eliminated from the MLB Playoffs in 2011.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Glouglouburp (4543) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 6, 2011
In short: A boring and slightly buttery strong belgian blonde ale. Meh.
How: From a bottle at Mondial de la Bière 2011
The look: Cloudy blonde body topped by a off-white ring of foam
In long: Nose is fruity and buttery. Taste has a strange bready malt backbone that I’d described as cooked pasta. Expected ripe bananas and some other light-color fruits, some lemongrass, some butter. Very limited hops presence. This Absolution was a very bland beer. A beer stand in a beer festival is very different from a confessional in a church, I didn’t have to tell my waiter about all the dirty things I do with girls to get the absolution. I told him anyway but I didn’t have to.
