3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from HOTD Dave. Typical trippel characteristics of sweet malts, spice, vanilla, belgian twang, buttery...fruits, especially banana. Pleasant warmth and highly drinkable for its size. But, in the end, this style isn’t my thing. Dave - this is like you with barleywine. Ho-hum.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
pours cloudy almost dirty yellow-greyish with a small white cap, no retention really. sweet honeyed cereals, partially fermented, white grape juice - some wort, lightly sourish pale yellow fruits, belgian yeast - nice fruity and spicy-woodsy esters, sweetish vanilla perhaps, flowery and grassy, lemon iced tea, lot of honey and booze. average carbonation, medium body - oily and sticky, boozy and very lightly tart grassy-peppery finish. ok.

We were not a fan of this one. Amber in glass. Fruity aroma. Tastes like bananas and bubblegum. A bit too sweet.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Not a favorite, but I have a feeling that is because the flavors were so complex. Probably too much for my unsophisticated palate. First taste was somewhat not good, but did end up enjoying it by the end of the glass.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Very tasty, a little overly sweet though.
If you like a strong ale with only subtle hopped up bitterness, this is worth a shot.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
From bottle. Pours a hazy golden color with a thin fine-textured head. Aroma of bananas and cloves. Smooth flavor, sweet, bananas, cloves, very little hops. A fine tripel and worth seeking out again.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap poured into a snifter. Plenty of aromas on this one, including caramel, banana, clove, candi sugar, honey, and raisin. Overall it’s fairly pleasant, but i had to knock it a couple points for prevalent the vodka alcohol aroma that comes through - other Trippels do a better job of hiding this alcohol note. The beer is a clear, effervescent yellow-gold color with a thin white ring that remains for the head. Not much lacing with this beer either. It’s a medium-high sticky sweet beer (I wouldn’t expect much less from a meadery making a trippel) with a nice light bitter to support it - arguably a great dessert beer. The medium full, syrupy sweet body has lots of soft carbonation, and has a chewy, sticky texture. The finish is a syrupy honey sweetness with a touch of pine and resin. It’s a very clean aftertaste with maybe an ever-so-slight astringency that lingers in the mouth.

Dingeman’s 2-Row Pilsen Malt ,1 lb. of light candi sugar per 5 gallons. WLP500 yeast provides nice fruitiness. Light saaz hops. The finest example of an American Tripel and one of my favorite all-time beers. Bill, Earl and company do a great job at Dragon mead.
