3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
A very well done tripel, growler from Dragonmead itself. Aroma was huge. Strong yeast and light pine/fruit with bit of honey. Pour was a cloudy hazy gold, white head and a hint of sediment floating around. Taste was great. Strong apple, pear and fruit cocktail with a yeasty acidic aftertaste. Nice carbonation and pretty easy to drink for 10%.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from a bottle.
Aroma is fairly ester forward with some nice pear and stone fruit notes. Some lighter banana with medium light clove phenolics. Light alcohol spice. Some light malt notes with toasted bread and caramel as well as some burnt sugar.
Pours a clear, golden copper with a medium sized, fairly thick, slightly off-white head that steadily recedes. Low lacing and moderate legs.
Flavor is fairly sweet with a lot of caramel, candi sugar and toasted bread. Moderate esters with a lot of pear and stone fruit and some lesser banana and red apple. Medium light clove phenolics. Some light alcohol spice in the finish. Medium light bitterness.
Mouthfeel is medium to medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth.
Overall, an alright trippel. Nice yeast profile with good malt notes as well. Alcohol is well hidden.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Guest tap at the Detroit airport Gordon Biersch. poured a hazy orange accented gold, very little head. Aroma of thick pale malts, orange marmalade, some Belgian yeast spiciness. Flavor was a match. Felt thick on the palate, definitely a good bit of sweetness residing. Needed hops to cut this down, or more yeast spice, either one. This aspect was also really hurt by the very low carbonation level - a higher level (much more in keeping with the base style) would have helped cut through things a bit as well. As it was, it came across as the usual American train wreck you hit with this style. Too bad, I had wanted to like this.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aromas have hints of spice - clove - some slightly fruity flavors - a touch of orange. Hops are very subdued.
The beer color is an attractive cloudy, light orange. The head is slight and off-white.
Sweetness dominates the taste; very little bitterness.
Body is a bit on the light side of medium; texture is slick and a touch sticky, probable due to the candi sugar. Carbonation is average to just slightly soft; the finish is sweet, slightly bready and a bit carbonated.
I like the spicy yeast flavors and the fruity aromas. However the sweetness needs something to balance it - hops or carbonation.

Pour on tap at the brewery, slightly hazy golden pour with white head, aroma brought notes of biscuit, cracker, some orange, pear, and peach notes, nice banana and clove into a bit of white grape, some nice yeasty and doughy spice notes as well. Taste is a mix of cracker, dough, bread into some sweet white fruit with peach, pear, orange, some white grape, nice clove and coriander, finishing slightly sweet, slightly bitter.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Poured a clear gold but settled a opaque gold with a solid half finger, white head. Heavy carbon release. Light bread aroma with a touch of citrus. Wonderful, complex flavours. Very hoppy, and sweet but not over powering. Moderate lacing. Long lasting finish. A bit heavy on the alcohol but not noticeable. Very nice.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours golden. This was a gusher. had to pour very slowly after dumping a little just to keep the head from going crazy. Apparently this one was a bit off. My hunch is that it was pretty old. Good spicy aroma. Flavors of bananas, bubblegum, & cloves. Pretty classic trippel. Body was a little syrupy. Missing the sweet mouthfeel I was expecting. I’m giving this the benefit of the doubt. I’ll keep an open mind however and will re rate when I get the chance

Served on tap in a chalice glass
Appearance – The beer is served a lightly hazed orange-yellow color with a small head of white foam. The head fades quite quickly leaving only a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is that as may be expected for a triple. The strongest smell is that of some bubblegum and banana mixed with some aromas of a spice nature. The spice is heaviest of a clove smell but contains other aromas of some lemongrass and coriander as well. Along with these smells comes some light biscuit smells as well as some other aromas of a candied sugar and yeast cake smell. Overall it is on the sweeter side but delicious, hiding any boozy aromas quite well.
Taste – The taste begins quite sweet upfront with lots of candied sugar and fruit of banana, orange, and pear. From the start there are also some more doughy like flavors that create a base for the sweeter flavors to rest upon. Quickly some flavors of yeast and spice come to the tongue, bringing some degree of balance to the sweet. The spice is quite heavy of clove, coriander and some pepper with it really giving a nice bite to the beer. With the addition of the yeast and spice, so too comes some more biscuit like flavors in replacement of some of the doughy flavors, and with that transition there is also a nice increase in the candied sugar flavors as well as a nice bubblegum flavor. With a bit more banana and some grass coming to the tongue at the very end of the taste, one is left with a sweet but quite pleasant and enjoyable Belgian triple flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the slightly thinner side with a carbonation level that is on the slightly higher side. The combination of the two is very nice for the yeasty, spicy and fruity flavors of the brew, making for a rather nice easy drinking triple.
Overall – Overall a very tasty and quite nice drinking tripe that, while a bit on the sweeter side, was very balanced and smooth. Quite delicious and well worth a try if you get the chance.
