COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A porter with a difference. Dark in color but light in taste. 25 pounds if honey and dark chocolate wheat malt are used to give this beer a refreshingly smooth taste. Give this beer a try even if you don't like dark beers.

Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, tobacco, pear. Appears dark brown, nearly black, and opaque with a big frothy caramel head and some lace. Tastes sweet upfront of pear and some honey followed by a balancing coffee and dark chocolate bitterness. Palate is a bit fuller than ordinary. Overall, good.

Tap: deep brown near the edges, nearly black in the center with a chunky, khaki collar that has good staying power. Aroma has notes of bitter chocolates & cocoa dust, residual "honey" sweetness, some caramel, light brown sugar, perhaps inducing a reminder of graham cracker. Taste is pretty sweet, but controlled. Dark chocolate, roasted malt, light caramel, honey finish. A touch of ashy hops with some faint brown sugar notes. A pretty nice & easy drinking porter.

On nitro at brewery. Beautiful. Dark brown with long-lasting tan head. Faint nose of honey. Great creamy mouthfeel. Charred malt and honey. Beautifully balanced.

Nice foam head cap. Dark color beer. Sweet porter with a hint of honey. The flavor isn’t very distinct, though.

On tap at Dragonmead. Poured a dark brown with a tan head. Chocolate, roast, and honey. Honey was present but not overpowering as the name would imply.

Sample at the brewpub. Pours brownish-black with a medium tan head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and a touch of honey. Light body with flavors of sweet malt, honey and a tinge of mineral water. The finish is sweet and roasty with a short malt aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Draft. A nice porter with a little extra sweetness from the honey. Smooth, chocolate presence is there. I had just a sample but will try more on another visit.

nitro... can’t believe there is so much honey in this, I get a bit of the chocolate but this is so dull, the base must be terrible

On nitro tap at the brewery. Pours a dark brown with a thick tan head. Aroma of chalky malt (it did not have a strong aroma). Flavor of bitter chocolate, light honey sweetness, and sweet roasted malt. A decent porter that is on the sweet side. 6/4/6/3/11 [3.0/5]

Sample at the brewpub. Black pour with a thick tan nitro head. Roasty and slightly metallic nose. Flavor of roasted malt, honey and banana that shouldn’t be there.
