3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Dogbrick (4837) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAY 10, 2012
Sample at the brewpub. Pours brownish-black with a medium tan head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and a touch of honey. Light body with flavors of sweet malt, honey and a tinge of mineral water. The finish is sweet and roasty with a short malt aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

nitro... can’t believe there is so much honey in this, I get a bit of the chocolate but this is so dull, the base must be terrible

On nitro tap at the brewery. Pours a dark brown with a thick tan head. Aroma of chalky malt (it did not have a strong aroma). Flavor of bitter chocolate, light honey sweetness, and sweet roasted malt. A decent porter that is on the sweet side.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 JaBier (3236) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - FEB 7, 2010

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 deyholla (3528) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 30, 2009
On tap. Poured black with a thick yellowish brown head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma was full of light chocolate notes that clashed a bit with a honey night. Flavor began sweet from the honey but transfered to more of a milk chocolate finish.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 polomagnifico (940) - Saginaw, Michigan, USA - MAY 19, 2008
Aroma is sugary sweet with roasted malt and caramel notes. Black hue with a good looking tan head. Flavor has notes of roasted coffee, chocolate but also an off metal taste. Medium to full bodied and soft. A bit of a cloying feel. Almost there but what happens near the finish kills it.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Pailhead (3436) - Plymouth, Michigan, USA - JUL 15, 2007
On tap: The aroma is a combination of chocolate, roasted coffee, honey, faint smoke, and black licorice. It’s a dark brown with no transparency and a moderate beige head. The flavor starts with some faint cocoa and finishes with roasted coffee, honey, and the faintest touch of black licorice. Thin but soft mouthfeel.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 hopscotch (7532) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JAN 3, 2007
Draft... Way dark, opaque, burnt orange ale with a large, brown head. Subtle aromas of vanilla and cocoa. Just a touch of acetaldehyde in the flavor, but mostly chocolaty and mildly bitter. Full-bodied and ultra-silky with barely noticeable carbonation. Bitter, chocolaty finish... dries out.
