Retorp (2148), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 18, 2008 Courtesy of Ibrew2or3’s sister who is clearly a wonderful human being.
The aroma is somewhat chemical tinged and along with that I get the disparate flavors of fresh snapped tree branch, chicory, veggies, boozy alcohol and earthy clay. It is a very odd aroma and while mostly bad, it’s odd enough to be interesting The body is a deep black and holds a creamy, lasting, mocha head. The fore is chicory, milk sugar, herbs and veggies, clay, hazelnut chocolate and coffee. Odd as hell. At times I like it and then I taste things I really dislike. Just an odd beer.
Rciesla (712), Brick City, New Jersey, USA Jun 2, 2008 Draft and bottled. Pours a dark body loads of malt, chocolate, caramel, and sweetness load this one. Little bit of smoke and roast comes together well, just not for me. Rogueone (311), I F&ckin’ hate those guys from, Ohio, USA May 19, 2008 Draft @ Brewpub: This beer pours blackest black with a frothy tan head. Smells of toasted chocolate malts and liquid smoke. Packed a bit too much of a bitter hop wallop for an RIS, so it was a bit weird and unbalanced for my tastes. punkrkr27 (323), Clawson, Michigan, USA May 13, 2008 Black pour with tan lacing. Milk chocolate aroma, coffee and cinnamon. Lots of bitter dark chocolate flavor, coffee and a hint of floral hops in the finish. Oily full body. Oak (4), NYC, New York, USA does not count Apr 28, 2008 Maybe my palate isn’t as delicate as some of you guys but this beer was very boring to me. Tasted like a slightly and I mean slightly more chocolaty Guiness. I don’t see what was imperial about this beer. It was a good tasting beer but I expected more.
