COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Russian Classic! This stout is extremely big. Thick and malty, this stout is created with six-row barley as well as roasted, Chocolate and Caramel malts. The E. Kent Goldins hops do not quite take up all of the malt sweetness. You can’t see through this beer but you can see how just a little goes a long way.

UPDATED: MAR 27, 2014 Tap @ Dragonmead: Black-hole black with just about no head. Roasted malts, burnt coffee beans, mild licorice, bittersweet cocoa, and some residual sweetness in the aroma. Malty bomb with lots of coffee bean, anise, licorice, and chocolatey sweet flavors on the palate. Slight ashy and leafy in the finish, mildly bitter from the intense roast. Oily, not as thick as I want it to be. A "safe" RIS. Not bad, though.

On tap at Dragonmead Brewpub. Midnight brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and some sweet chocolate and licorice underneath. Taste of dark-roasted malts, chocolate, mild coffee and mild alcohol. Semi-chalky on the finish.

Dogbrick (7243) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAY 10, 2012
Sample at the brewpub. Pours brownish-black with a medium beige head that dissipates steadily to a film. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and molasses. Medium body with a roasty character of malt and coffee. Notes of mild hops and brown sugar in the background. The finish is charred malt and coffee. Decent, albeit lighter Imperial Stout overall.

Draft. Aroma is roasted but to a point of burnt tones. Deep black color with a thin head. Smooth with bitter coffee finish.

draft... called the Russian Imperial stout on the menu but they have the same abv so I assume its the same.... this is super watery stout, a bit of char and chocolate to it but a below average ris for sure

On tap at MBGSF 2010. Super smoky. Not really that roasty, maybe it could be a porter, maybe. Not bad though.

A nice smoky aroma, an OK head, and a creamy texture. The aroma was the best feature. The taste was decent.

I wouldn’t say this is weak. Not super strong, but definitely a stout to write home about. Nice amount of head, good bitterness. Their best stout.
