COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Russian Classic! This stout is extremely big. Thick and malty, this stout is created with six-row barley as well as roasted, Chocolate and Caramel malts. The E. Kent Goldins hops do not quite take up all of the malt sweetness. You can't see through this beer but you can see how just a little goes a long way.

Appears an inky black with a dark tan head that is unmistakable of the style. Smell is of chocolate cake, dark roasted malt, rich aged barrel aging. Taste is of chocolate richness, dark roasted malt, and a deep roasted taste that is in need of aging to be world class. Mouthfeel is roasty, bitter, and hitting the middle of the tongue before quickly dying out. Drinkability...dry and in need of age.

Draft. Aroma is roasted but to a point of burnt tones. Deep black color with a thin head. Smooth with bitter coffee finish.

draft... called the Russian Imperial stout on the menu but they have the same abv so I assume its the same.... this is super watery stout, a bit of char and chocolate to it but a below average ris for sure

Sample at Dragonmead on 7/23/11. Black pour with a medium tan head. Aroma of roast, dark fruit and chocolate. Flavor starts malty with chocolate before a roasty coffee finish.

On tap at MBGSF 2010. Super smoky. Not really that roasty, maybe it could be a porter, maybe. Not bad though.

A nice smoky aroma, an OK head, and a creamy texture. The aroma was the best feature. The taste was decent.

I wouldn’t say this is weak. Not super strong, but definitely a stout to write home about. Nice amount of head, good bitterness. Their best stout.

On tap at the brewery. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of chocolate, chocolate syrup, sweet malt, and roasted malt. Flavor was somewhat of a let down -- very sweet and sugary, not as robust as the aroma would suggest. A touch of roasted malt, but mostly just sweetness. 7/4/6/3/12 [3.2/5]

Sweet molasses and chocolate nose, dark fruit, light coffee and light smoke. Taste is moderately sweet, lightly bitter, prune juice, roast, smoke and brown sugar. Meh.

On tap at Dragonmead. Pours dark brown, amost black, with a lingering tan head. Somewhat smokey at first, then fade to a robust roasted coffee flavor, with some hints of hops. Body was just a little thin, but very good.
