COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A light colored version of the Alt Beer. This beer uses an ale type yeast at lager-like temperatures. What results is a smooth, almost fruity beer that is pleasing to the palate. A small amount of Wheat malt is used to give extra body to this otherwise "light" beer. Hallertau hops balance the malt but impart no hop aroma. O.G. 1.048

Tap at Dragonmead. Pale golden pour. Lightly hoppy with a light touch of amber malt character as well. A little bit sweet and worty smelling. Grainy and quite cereal-like with some lingering sweetness. Not very clean but not really estery either. A little bit minerally and herbal with a kiss of light bitterness. Grassy but not really well-integrated. More pale lager than kolsch.

This was nice lighter beer by Drangonmeads standards. It had a nice palate and you could taste the different ingrediants, the appearnace was really good.

Tap @ Dragonmead - Hazy, murky yellow. bready malts, yeasty dry and crackery. Cottony, flavorless hops. Malt bomb. Barely deserves to be called a kolsch.

Served on draft at Hopcat in Grand Rapids. Pours a slightly hazy lemon yellow color with a large head. Good head retention and lacing. Fruity aroma with notes of apples, caramel and pale malts. The taste is sweet grainy notes, light grassy hops and a fruity finish. Medium bodied. Decent.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear golden yellow with a white head. Aroma of bready malt and light fruits. Flavor sweet malt, slight diacetyl, and sweet fruit. A chill beer, very drinkable, but certainly on the sweet side. 6/4/6/3/12 [3.1/5]

4-30-08 on tap. Straw with huge rocky head. Funny description claims no aroma, but first thing in my notes, ’great hallertau aroma", pils malt background. Very clean. Flavor much the same, nice balance between hallertau, maybe some spicy saaz character, and pils malt with some light toast/biscuit. Prickly carbonation. Well done, easy drink.

UPDATED: APR 27, 2010 bottle Cloudy, pale body with white head. The aroma is dough, light citrus and floral. The flavor is fairly dry, floral, bread and biscuity malts. Medium/light body is moderately carbonated with a bitter, citrusy end. Nice.--- 7/4/8/4/14 = 3.7

tap @ Dragonmead. Hazy pale yellow, medium white head. Clean doughy nose, some yeast, herbal hops and light honey. Very lightly sweet, lightly bitter, with dough, cotton candy/honey and herbal/floral hops. Medium/light body is soft with light carbonation. A big improvement over the bottle. 8/4/8/4/16 = 4.0

Tap at brewpub. Pour is cloudy pale lemony straw color, with a fair amount of rocky white foam. Aroma is lemon, honey, grains, Taste is lemon, honey, acidic, tart. Palate is light, crisp, refreshing. Nothing extraordinary, but true to the style. Warm weather beer. Good for the non "big" beer drinker.
