3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Had on-tap at Dragonmead.
Appearance: Well, what is there to say? Thick, creamy-as-hell tan head that stays on top of the beer. Thick wall of lacing. One of the best beers Iíve had, visually. Dat nitro-tap!
Smell: Hm. Yeah, thatís nice. Light, but pleasant. Coffee and toffee/caramel sort of aromas are there though. Whatís there is really good.
Taste/feel: Taste is much like the smell. Coffee, toffee/caramel. Basic. Light. Easy drinking. The obvious comparison is Foundersí Oatmeal Stout. Thatís a better beer, but not by too much. Simply put, that beer just has a bit more flavor. The look and feel of this one though are excellent.
A well-made Oatmeal Stout. Iíd like some more flavor, but what IS in here is tasty. Iíd have it again for sure.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
On nitrogen. A nice roast malt and cigar tobacco aroma. Appearance is nearly black dark brown with a thick and creamy milk chocolate head with thick, opulant curtains. Taste is roast malt, bitter leather, and sweet tobacco. palate is spot on for a stout, creamy, thick, not syrupy or fizzy, a rare perfect palate. Overall, an amazing stout when on nitro, donít miss this!

3.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Nitro at brewery. Beautiful pour of dark black with great, lingering tan head. Mild aroma of burnt malt. Very creamy mouthfeel of charred malt, mild coffee, tobacco, light smoke. I donít generally like DMís stouts, but this is super solid.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: MAR 5, 2014 Tap: Very black color, completely opaque with a fuzzy, dark-khaki colored head. Aroma consists of roasted malts with maybe a touch of smoked malt, too; oats and grains abound, along with a hint of woodiness and a slight mocha-java vibe. The taste has a good dose of roasted malts with a burnt and slightly smokey profile. Dark coffee beans, bitter chocolate, and heavy, heavy oats. The oat flavor is explosive. Dry, rustic oats coat the palate, also giving plenty of almost wheaty, grainy flavor. No much hoppage; bitterness comes from the roast. Very creamy, nice carbonation. One of Dragonmeadís best, no doubt.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Draft at brewery, nitro. Aroma is mostly malt. Taste is smooth as most nitros are. The taste is kinda bland though. A little disappointed a I was looking forward to it.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sample at the brewpub. Pours flat black with a medium creamy beige head that diminishes slowly. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Light to medium body with a roasty character and flavors of malt, coffee and dark chocolate. The finish is sweet with a toasted malt aftertaste, Decent overall.

draft... another really disappointing porter by DM, the oats helped a bit as there was a nice sweet note but besides that no flavor

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured up via nitro tap at the Dragonmead brewpub with deep mahogany body and firm tan head. The aroma offers up mild forays of dark roasted malts, burnt malts and almost to charred maltiness. The taste is smooth and ushers in dark roasted malts to burnt malts as well as a mild minerally earthiness that seems a touch out of place.
