COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Another fine example of the English style. This Bitter is more robust than the best bitter but still with an excellent balance between hops and malt. Pale Ale Malt along with Aromatic and Crystal malts combine with the Galena and Fuggles hops to create a sure-fire favorite.

On tap at Dragonmead. Poured an amber color with a smaller sized off white head. Caramel, some grains, and some nuttiness.

12oz bottle from The Beer Depot in Ann Arbor, MI. Pours a clear, deep brown with a ruby tint. Big, three finger-width, foamy, off-white head that collapses slowly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is fairly malty with some richer caramel, grainy toast, nuts, and a light herbal hop. Flavor is pretty solid. Lots of rich caramel and grainy malts up front with some crystal sweetness and nuts before a solid, pretty firm herbal character comes in. A light grass and toast comes out more towards the end as this finishes with a nice mix of herbal hops and grainy, rich caramels. The herbal hops are fairly bold, but not excessively bitter. They leave a medium bitterness. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and a medium-high carbonation. Overall, a nicely flavored ESB. A bit over-carbonated and the aroma is more about the malts, but this was tasty and enjoyable enough.

bottle... way to carbonated, can’t even pour more than a couple onces without a huge light tan gushing head going everywhere, super lasting and reminds me of a rootbeer float head falling down... milky creamy nose with skunk, something is way off here, a bit of wet dog hops as well... tastes equally bad, a bit of caramel but mostly wet dog, just bad

Tap at Dragonmead. Deep amber pour. No real aroma at all. Soft and a little bit fruity. Lightly sweet malt with a touch of caramel and toffee but the hoppiness is quite light and subdued. Lightly plummy but it’s quite watery. Not a whole lot of character in here really. Hops are barely perceptible and there’s just a touch of dark malt sweetness.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazed deep tea color of brown and red. Zero head to speak of. Slightly malty smell but other than that not a whole lot going on. Very clean aroma. The taste is slightly matly with a nice hops taste at the end that lingers. Overall a very clean semi full bodied esb that is decent. Medium mouthfeel.

Tap @ Dragonmead - really dry, cottony, but flavorless hoppings. Tooffee malts, solventy and dirty.

Has a nice, fruity, slightly malty aroma that is not strong but invites a taste. It pours an attractive clear mahogany with a thick and fairly persistent white head. Flavor is malty and a little fruity with a little hop bitterness and a cider-like undertone. Texture is lively and quite fizzy, leaving behind a nice tingle and a hoppy, woody finish.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a slightly hazy brown with a small white head. Aroma of light fruits, caramel malt, and bready, sweet malt. Flavor of sweet fruits, jam, nutty malt, and toasted malt. Palate is a little weak, almost juice-like. Rather sweet by the end of the glass. This one was ok. 6/4/7/3/12 [3.2/5]

Sample at the brewpub. Clear copper pour with no head. Dank English malt and caramel aroma. Dank and fruity flavor. Tastes off.
