3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 DarkElf (2961) - La Jolla, California, USA - FEB 21, 2011
21-Feb-11 (12-oz sample bottle: Free bottle for stewarding the 2008 World Beer Cup in San Diego, CA) This beer pours dark ruddy-brown with half an inch of tan head that fizzles away to a wide ring and dusting. The nose is very fruity, with raisin, banana, apple, and fig, plus brown sugar and cola. The fruitiness continues on the palate, again with the raisin, apple, and brown sugar, but the sweetness is sugary, the darker malts are vague, and the yeast character is barely noticeable. Medium-plus in weight, though much of that is from residual sugar, and the carbonation is medium-high and distracting. Not bad, but too much emphasis on the fruity character, and not enough on malt or yeast.

Nitro… RBSG 2010… Clear, beautiful copper ale with a mid-sized, creamy, khaki head. Lengthy retention. Caramel and toffee dominate the bouquet, but a rumor of banana works its way into the mix. Full-bodied and creamy with tame carbonation. The sweet flavor renders caramel and banana with a whisper of clove. Low bitterness. Not a lot of chocolate. The flavor eventually fades to a sticky-sweet wet dream.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Styles (2014) - Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA - JUN 16, 2010
4-30-08 on tap. Brown minimal beige head. Aroma very faint combo of banana and caramel. Flavor is pretty much spot on. Banana, prune, raisin, clove. Slightly boozy, thins it out a tad too much. Other than the lack of aroma, this is pretty solid.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Tmoney99 (8773) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 15, 2010
MBG Winterfest 2010. Poured hazy dark brown color with a large off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate spicy toasted malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium toasted sweet flavor with a medium sweet and small alcohol bite finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable brew.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 BBB63 (5406) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - FEB 28, 2010
MiBG Winter Fest 2010: Ruby brown with a very good creamy off-white head. The aroma has the expected banana, clove and bubblegum esters along with some red wheat, walnut and roasted malt character. The taste is twangy fruits and light yeasty spice in play along with the wheat and roasted malt tones. Light alcohol presence towards the end. The mouth feel is lively and chalky. An okay example of the style.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 DrnkMcDermott (2621) - Downers Grove, Illinois, USA - AUG 25, 2009
Beer #36 of 42 at GTMW, 8-8-09. I wanted to try one of their meads, but all out! So I’ve got this treat instead. It is a dark, weizenbock appearance, a thin but foamy head. Good beer smell, rich in malts. Good bock taste, like dark wheat bread. Very slight bit of estery fruitiness.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 hopdog (7652) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 3, 2009
On tap at the Dragonmead Brew Pub. Poured a deeper brown color with a smaller sized white head. Aromas of some wheat, chocolate, and not too much more. Tastes of the same chocolate, wheat, with some cloves. I really didn’t get any banana or fruitiness that I would have expected.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 thegreenrooster (2806) - St.louis, Missouri, USA - AUG 11, 2008
Pour is a brown with a large tan head. Aroma starts off with a very sweet malt then some of the banana if you use your imagination. Flavor is more of a spice than anything else. I did not get any banana or wheat. At first I thought they poured the wrong beer but they told me i got the right one. Probably the worst one I had at the GTMW. And to think i waited around 20 minutes for them to pur this at 4 o’clock.

On tap at the 2007 GABF: Pours a transparent copper amber with a small, frothy light tan head. Aroma of slightly grassy, musty woody character and a touch of sweet caramel. Body starts somewhat thin and semi-sweet with a touch of yeast and sweet wheat, but not very true to style.

On tap @ the brew pub: Pours a brown color with a tan head. Aroma, wheat, chocolate and some fruits. Flavor, chocolate, fruity, wheat, and some spice. Not bad.
