3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark brown with small tan head. Aroma of roasted grains, slight hops, and hints of plums, raisins, and prunes. Taste has a slight sweetness and nutty to accompany the caramel and roasted malt to make a very nice scotch ale. Finishes dry and leaves a sweet aftertaste.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle. Pours a dark reddish brown, with a humongous head. The head finally settles and leaves a minimal amount of head. The aroma is very heavy on fruit. There is a light nuttiness, some hints of caramel and malt. The taste follows the caramel and nuttiness. The finish is very sweet, and not quite what I'd expect from a Wee Heavy. Not too bad though

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This is a deep, rich tasting beer with a heavily fruity aroma and truly minimal lacing/foam presence. This beer is best enjoyed cold as it becomes overwhelming as it creeps closer to room temperature. Itís not my favorite beer but it is quite enjoyable by itself, cold, or with a good slab of red meat.

Draft - Toasted malts and toast. Deep brown with a bubbly beige head. Malty and toasted malts with a dry finish. Meh.

1.8 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Undated 12 oz bottle served in a snifter.
Pours dark but clear, with a tan head of moderate size and retention. Minimal lacing.
Aroma: more like wine vinegar than Scotch Ale.
Flavor: Some vinegar here too, about matching the dark malts. Light smoke in the finish.
O: "Unique taste" indeed. Probably not at its best, but then again the bottle was from a reliable store, and carefully cold-stored for just a few months.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a thistle.
The appearance was a semi-dark brown with tints of purple along the edges. The head was about a fingerís worth of white foaminess that gently died. Super light lacing trickled down the glass.
The smell had a caramel malty roasted peatiness I normally get in most Scotch ales. Light "meat"-like aroma tried to invade but stayed subdued for the most part.
The taste was sweet roasty peaty with that light "meat"-like flavoring trying to come in.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium with a semi-decent sessionability to it. The "meat" flavoring could be a tad distracting. However, this beer definitely rolled across my tongue extremely well leaving a really nice smoothness all around.
Overall, for the most part, good Scotch ale. Iím not sure where I got the "meatiness" but hey throughout the beer it does show its face fairly strong but fairly weak at different times.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tap: Trudgy, swampy brown color with a vibrant red/ruby tone throughout; creamy, beige head on top settles nicely to a chunky collar. Aroma contains a nice abundance of malt; burnt caramel, cocoa powder, & a light smokiness. Rum-raisins & plums.... The nose is sweet, but offset by a mild smoky note & some faint charred malt. Taste is big fruit up front; apples, plums, raisins, even some pear; gains some robustness from the alcohol. Light smoke, rustic caramel notes, cocoa powder, & some slightly charred woody & nutty hints. Big black currant & date-like fruit finish.
Iíve had bottles of this that were quite disappointing; quite tart mid-palate with signs of possible infection. Astringent finish, & almost cloying levels of sweetness... Seems variation of this beer can be a bitch. But when itís good... itís not bad at all.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. The pour is dark, deep amber. The aroma is nice and bold, mostly scottish malts. The taste is decent for a scottish ale, nothing special.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Three bottles - three different experiences. The first bottle was pulled from the fridge, sat on a table for 30 mins, and when I opened it it was like a geyser. Most of it sprayed out. Not judging anything on that bottle. Second bottle did not do that, but hat this sour taste like it was infected. Decided to try a third bottle before rating. Third bottle....poured a dark cola. Decent head but the lacing disappeared quickly. I canít place the smell. Not pleasant, but not unpleasant. Just doesnít taste like a beer to me.
Tasting dark fruits but with a smoky taste to it? I think my third beer is what it should taste like.
I love Final Absolution. I have had that many times. This, coming from the same brewery is surprising. Three beers from the same four pack. Three different experiences. I will drink the fourth, but then go back to Dirty Bastard. This is just a mess.

Bottle from Grand Rapids. Pours out like a cola with a bubbly brown head. Big aroma of brown sugar and roasted malt. Great malty flavor with a hint of smoke. Well made, true to style and tasty.

Tap. Dark ruby/plum. Thinnish. Very sweet. Raisin, soy sauce, definitely present alcohol.
