This is a true West Coast IPA–it is pale in color, with with bracing bitterness, high alcohol content (about 7.3% abv) and a fruity/floral/citrus hop aroma. It is made from a simple malt bill: North American base and pale caramel malt. We use copious amounts of Northwest hops all throughout the boil, with most of it going in within the last 15 minutes. After fermentation is complete, we dry hop it with approximately 1 boatload of each of the same hop varieties. 16.5°

Poured a hazy orange amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of caramel, candied orange, earthiness and grapefruit zest. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of caramel, candied orange, grapefruit and light earthiness with a smooth dry lingering moderatly bitter finish.

Location: Draft at O.H.S.O., 3/8/14

Aroma: It has a nice resiny/pine aroma, with some nice citrus, and some spice notes
Appearance: This one pours a clear golden color with a nice white head on it
Flavor: The taste is much the same, with a big hoppy bitterness, and a clean hop finish
Palate: The body is medium-plus, it has a clean feel, and a nice, dry finish
Overall Impression: This was another really tasty beer from Dragoon. It wasn’t quite as good as their Red IPA, but it was a heck of a beer. Excluding the much ballyhooed Wilderness (which totally lived up to the hype), I think Dragoon may have been the Arizona brewery that impressed me to the most on my trip.

Draft - Pine and skunk. Clear gold with a thick white head. Piney and skunky with a nice balance of bitterness. Reminds me of Green Flash, which is a good thing.

Tap at OHSO. Pours Amber with puffy head. Nose is big citrus. Tastes of juicy grapefruit, very resinous, caramel, and some spruce. Quite bitter but very tasty and drinkable. Well carbonated and nice lingering palate. I was beat from hiking in heat but this brought me back to life

Draft sample at OHSO. Clear gold color with bubbly carbonation and a thin white head. Wow big orange, hoppy aroma. Great flavor that balances sweet mandarin oranges with piney bitterness. Great IPA.

Pour on tap at the brewery, slightly hazy orange pour with white head, aroma brought big pungent hoppy tones with juicy orange, grapefruit, lots of pine, nice mango in there as well, nice zesty hops balance it into some caramel, slight biscuit but it’s all about the hops. Taste is a mix of orange, grapefruit, mango and pineapple, into some grass, herbal and spicy hops, slight caramel, toffee notes, finishing with more sweet orange, grapefruit, and a slight piney note as well. Very well done.
