Looking for a beer with a bit lighter alcohol content? (What? Why? Just kidding! We all enjoy a great-tasting beer with less alcohol so we can drink A LOT MORE of it!) Our brewers created Alpha Session Ale with the same big flavors as an IPA, but lower alcohol contentÖ so you can drink more of them. Iím definitely not complaining about that...
Hopped with Simcoe, Citra and CTZ.

Big bottle from BevMo shared with Dad and Octo round Church Close. Streaming lager-gold with a loose white foam. Lychee, soapy citrus, sulphur and biscuit hints on the nose. Flavour floral and lemon zest hops backed with toast, stewed tea and biscuit. A fine take on a contemporary English GA.

Bottle, slightly hazy yellow-to-golden color, good foam though it doesnít really cling to the glass. The aroma is floral in character with a light grain ale background. Taste follows smell, bright citrus and pale malt, with more emphasis on the bitterness from the hops. As advertised, a hoppy session ale with some bite, surprising flavor for 3.8% ABV.

Faint aroma of biscuit. Cloudy, pale gold with no foam. Very simple and bland taste of bready malts and barley. Overall, nothing much to say about this. Itís very weak.

Bomber poured a clear gold with a lingering ring of off white foam. Aromas of crackers, grapefruit, earthiness and lemon zest. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of biscuit, grapefruit, earthiness and pine with a crisp dry lingering bitter finish.

22oz bomber pours crystal clear gold with somewhat weak white head. The aroma offers up tangelo and lime mixed with spicy dank hops and then a touch of sweet maltiness. Smells yummy. The taste is big on flavor and follows suit with grapefruit and tangelo and some lime mixing together with and even level of hop flavor and hop bitterness.3.8% ABV, what? Could that be right? Behind the hops is a wafer thin ring of malt sweetness. Great refreshing and yet bold flavored summer brew. Dandy!

Uhmazing. Perfect 100 degree day cold temp session ale, yet full flavored and bodied. Hints of grass, citrus, tropical fruits, pinched through hops are available to love your tongue. Slight bready feel, heavy, yet so light. Goes down like the best water youíve ever tasted. Hoping to snag a case here if I can get one out here in the sticks...

"Session" beer thatís BELOW 4%. YES!! This bready American Pale Ale has a solid malt character and a lovely whiff of citra and Simcoe pine and grass. Grapefruit in the taste, but the aromatics are all West Coast greenery. The water dominates the malts, but thatís intentional. For 3.8%, this brew packs a great malt taste and solid hop bitterness. Clean finish, and itís light appearance says Pale Ale but also says drinkability. Looks unfiltered, great lace... more taste than most beers at this alcohol volume. Very happy to have tried it.

(Draught) Pours a clear golden body with a medium white head. Aroma of passion fruit, orange, grapefruit, florals, and pine. Flavor of passion fruit, pine, orange, grass, and grain with a dry, bitter finish. Quite the hoppy beer for 3.8% abv.

Sampled at Blind Lady Ale House; July 2012
Frothy, pale, off-white head that stars out at a full finger in height. The beer is a amber gold color that shows a copper-gold hue in the light. This has a vibrant, hoppy, citrus focused nose that smells of lychee, essential citrus oil, ripe tangelo zest, and a backing herbal / pine character that becomes more prominent as you dig for it.

Dry and bitingly hoppy, the dryiness accentuates the bitter and herbal notes over the ripe fruit that was found in the aroma. Lingering bitter pine, a spicy floral character, and an almost herbal citrus character that leans towards grapefruit zest and perhaps a little bit of Curacao orange zest. Very light bodied, and eminently quaffable, almost a little bit too much so, as the lack of residual sweetness downplays the fruit side of the hops, and this beer loses a vibrancy b/c of that. As it warms, more of the citrus & tropical fruit character comes out, but it is still dominated by the spicy, herbal hop character; lots of floral peach, lychee and some guava peeks through.

Nice, and actually quite enjoyable, but I do wish the flavor had more of the vibrant hop fruit character that was in the nose.
