Bottle in trade. Had 2 bottles and the second one was MUCH better than the first. I wasn’t sure of the nose on this until I realized it was the apple brandy. Added a weird element to the taste also that I thought was too distracting.

Beautiful caramel color, very little head. Nice brandy-driven aroma. Lovely dry, woody flavor with brandy dancing along the palate. Warm mouthfeel, weakly sweet. Beautiful, beautiful beer.

Jul 20, 2008 Bottle (6oz) shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a murky reddish-brown with a small lasting beige head. Aroma: Whoa, that’s something! Apple cider with brandy, tart fruit, wood and spices. Flavour’s oaky and malty along with some sourness, fruit and spices and an alcoholic finish. Not as complex as it could be. Medium bodied. Overall, I like it.

Nice thick dark brown with a good ivory head. Smell is sweet cherry and apples brandy with a touch of vanilla and earthiness to it. Flavor is nice brandy and malt but more of a cherry-like and fruit-like flavor than I expected. Very drinkable and very earthy. A fun good beer.

Jul 12, 2008 Bottle. Nice aroma of apple, wooden barrel, and light alcohol. Poured a clear dark orange-brown color with a fizzy off white head. Medium to full bodied. Drier and fruitier than the Drake’s brandy and bourbon barrel aged barley wines with slightly greater carbonation. I tasted distinct apple, brandy, and a hint of root beer. Yum.

Pours a maroonish brown color and is opaque with a big beige head. Smell is aged maltiness, apple fruitiness and earthy oak. Taste is very oaky and with mild, smooth maltienss. Lightly flavored otherwise, though. Quite dry and pleasant with a rich body and light bubbly carbonation. Very light alcohol flavor. Enjoyable.
