COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Aroma Coma is our summer seasonal India Pale Ale. We’ve brewed it annually since 2009 for a local IPA festival, where it was selected one of the top three beers in the competition. The malt bill consists of almost all 2-row barley malt, with a touch of Caramalt for body - leaving you with a delightfully hop-forward experience. Generous amounts of Cascade, Chinook, CTZ & Citra hops create the citrus, pine, and floral notes. Breathe ’Em in and enjoy!

UPDATED: AUG 29, 2013 9/VIII/13 - 1Pt. 6Fl. Oz. bottle @ De Hopduvel, shared with Bobochamp - bottled: VII/9/13 (2013-702) Thanks to Jerome for the bottle!

Clear orange beer, creamy off-white to light yellow head, little stable, pretty adhesive. Aroma: lots of citrus, lots of exotic fruits, passion fruit, pineapple, piny and resinous, fruity bubble gum. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: surprisingly not as fruity as one would expect from the aroma. Resinous bitter hops, citrus, hint of exotic fruits, dry woody touch. Aftertaste: very dry and bitter hops, citrus, bitter grapefruit, almost chemical, dry and bitter ending. Not balanced enough, for me it needs a more malty backbone to support the huge bitterness of this ale, because now it’s a bit too bitter. Yeah, I said it...

Pours a bright orange with a small off white head which fades to nice lacing. Aroma is of citrus, pine, tropical fruits, sweet malts, floral hops, and some caramel. Taste is about the same as the aroma with some nice tropical pineapple, and a nice bready sweet malt character with some caramel notes. Has a medium-full body with a creamy mouthfeel and a semi dry, pretty bitter, medium-long finish. Overall, a tasty, fresh tasting IPA that has a very nice hop-malt balance and a excellent aroma

22oz bottled July 2, 2013. Served at around 45F.

Pours very hazy orange with a one finger white head that quickly recedes to a wispy cap and leaves a few spots of lacing behind.

Aroma is really nice, big orange citrus primarily, a little pineapple, tropical fruit, hint of pine. Very good strength.

Flavor generally follows suit, juicy citrusy hops, oranges, fruity, pine, resinous hops, mild malt backbone with mild sweetness, decent bitterness on the finish, minimal alcohol.

Mouthfeel is medium-plus bodied with good carbonation.

Nice out of market treat here. Tasty.

UPDATED: AUG 19, 2013 Pours a crystal clear golden color, with a pillowy antique white head. Large grapefruit and some sweet orange bouquet. Mouthfeel is a perfect balance of mild oiliness, wet, yielding to mildly powdery, and finishing with an appealing hop heat/carbonation combination. Lots of clean citrus in the flavor, sweetness, and a fun grapefruit bitterness taste at the finish. I’d consider this to be a perfect balance of hop and malt features. Best effort by Drake’s so far, in my opinion.

Draft - Huge fresh pine aroma. Clear gold with a thin rich head. An earthy, resinous, pine hops, and candy sweetness. Extremely light and sessionable. I expected more, but less is more sometimes. I could drink this all day.

Bottle - pours a hazy orange w/ white head. Get some oranges and tangerines in the nose. More citrus flavors in the taste plus some lemons and a bitter grapefruit finish. It's decent. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22. Thanks j! Pours a hazy medium golden amber with a loose white head. Enormous grapefruit nose, intensely fruity. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Toasty light caramel with grapefruit and honey on the mid palate.

Bottle from Bine & Vine. Aroma Coma pours a slightly hazy golden-orange color with a moderate off-white head. Grassy hop aroma, with flowers, pine, and tropical fruit. Definitely a nice scent here, as the name suggests. There’s an assortment of juicy hop flavors to this thirst quenching IPA. Sweet passionfruit, oranges, and puckery grapefruit come to mind. Light pine mixes in, although less pronounced than the aroma, with very light doughy malt, and some grassy notes sneaking in there. This isn’t overly bitter for a West Coast IPA but there’s still enough firm bitterness to satisfy, and this has a nice dry finish. I like the drinkability; tasty and goes down easily with lighter malt and body. Good IPA.
