3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Koelschtrinker (8491) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - MAY 29, 2011
/11/11/12/13/11

Thanks tyler. Nice hazy reddish brown pour with no head. Aroma has notes of bourbon, vanilla, some oxidized hops. Taste is sweet vanilla and bourbon, touch of chocolate, with a slight boozy finish. Awesome brew, nice balanced notes. Nice brew!

[Bottle] shared by Tyler. Thanks! Pours clearish caramel with no head. Aroma is slightly vinous, I get more brandy than bourbon, caramel, light infection, and a touch of vanilla. Flavor is not quite as nice, but I did get the yeast pour. Spicy alcohol, plenty of caramel, a touch of fruitiness, presumably from the light infection. But it’s actually not too bad.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 CLevar (373) - Minnesota, USA - APR 22, 2011
Bottle shared by tyler. Thanks! Slightly hazy brown pour, no head, no lacing. Aroma is slight booze, oxidized hops, some sweet malt. Quite a bit of dark fruit character. Raisins, dates, dark fruits, and lots of them. Really interesting flavor. Perhaps slightly infected, with an odd funk and slightly sour character. Actually quite boozy on the end. Not great.

4-5 year old bottle shared by Tyler. Clear dark brown pour, no carbonation and an aroma of alcohol and raisins. Flavor is silky prunes, raisins, leather, very sweet caramel and still finishes pretty hot for being an older beer.

Mini 7oz bottle pours a hazy brown with zero head. Nose is sweet, boozy, rum, woody, light vanilla, oak, cognac, figs. A touch oxidized. Flavor is sweet, boozy, rum, whiskey, chocolate, caramel, apple. Full bodied. Finish is still hot.

6oz ultra mini bottle at DC Elite. The final beer of the night after about 40+ beers tried. So needless to say, I have no recollection of ever trying this beer; but here are the notes jotted down in what I would consider still legible handwriting.
Poured a clear, flat, deep amber to mahogany with no head formation. Aroma of leather, rich malt, intense bourbon, toffee, mild oxidation. Taste is boozy, rich leather, powerfully viscous maple, toffee, and malt syrup. Brown sugar and slight vinous qualities come through. Very nice.

$13 nip from monument. this pours pretty much flat, a few large surface bubbles maybe. murky dark brown. the nose is intense, earthy, seep sweetness of oak, bourbon, and brown sugar. bown sugar and maple are huge in the taste, very sweet, drinking like a port really. except much smoother than any port ive ever had. the body is nice, thick and oily, but not too over powering. my rating is basically comparing this to ports, not barleywines.

Bottle shared by Sean, thanks! Poured a near clear dark mahogany brown with a opaque edges and no head whatsoever. Aroma had a strong bourbon note with caramel and sweet grains backing. Flavor started with sweet grain, biscuit and caramel with a growing bourbon note that lead to a boozy finish.
