COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Drake’s Black Robusto Porter is a deep, dark “Robust Porter,” a beer style known for being darker, fuller-bodied, and higher in alcohol by volume than a standard Brown Porter. Our Black Robusto goes down smoothly with flavors of bittersweet chocolate an slight roast from Crystal and Chocolate malt. A touch of spicy, herbal hop character from Willamette hops balance out the finish. Enjoy a pint with dark, lingering satisfaction.

22 oz. bottle. Aroma is mainly dark chocolate with a hint of hops and some toasty malt. Appearance is jet black with minimal head but excellent lacing and clear with dark ruby highlights. The defining flavor of this beer is bittersweet chocolate, and some slight dark fruit and toasty flavors mingle in the background. It strikes an excellent balance for the black patent malt fans out there. The palate is satisfyingly rich but the roasted malt, carbonation, and hops clean it right out so that it never seems over-the-top. The finish is long and satisfying and might be longer if I wasn’t compelled to take another sip so soon. Overall this may be my favorite commercial porter and fits in perfectly with other classic examples such as Heretic’s Shallow Grave, Deschutes Black Butte, and Anchor Porter.

really very good all around. lots of dark chocolate notes and earthiness followed by an interesting hop character. mouthfeel is just right, not too prickly or foamy. very dark pour with a nice tan head. hard to go wrong with this one

Bottle at DTE tasting. Deep black pour with tan head. Aroma is roasty, nice chocolate aroma, full roast, pretty classic porter, light hoppiness. Taste is chocolatey, lots of caramel, light roastiness on the finish but not very bitter at all. Palate is med-light bodied with good carbonation. Good.

Benzai (7219) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - JUN 20, 2014
Bottle @ DTE tasting shared with Deanso, kermis, sic1314, JulianHuxley and jmgreenuk. Pitch black color, average sized brown head. Smell and taste malts, lightly roasty, nicely bitter but not too much. Not my best rating but I got distracted a bit and liked it too much so drank it a bit too quickly. Nice one!

Pours two fingers of tan head on a black body. The aroma is rich roasted malt, chocolate, a little burnt wood and milk. Excellent. The taste burnt, roasted malt with some chocolate to smooth it out. It stays on the roasty/bitter side. The texture is softer with low carbonation. Nicely done.

On tap at the brewery. Pours black with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, some dark chocolate and coffee, light smokiness, hints of bitterness, and light notes of dark fruits. Flavor the same. Average texture. A solid porter.

Pours dark brown/black with a large mocha head, this beer smells of a lot of chocolate and some bitter coffee taste. Taste like chocolate and some coffee bitterness in the back, along with other notes such as caramel as well as biscuit.
