COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Silver Medal winner for Imperial India Pale Ale, Great American Beer Festival 2009. Besides Jolly Roger, this is probably Drake’s most renowned beer. An Imperial (or Double) IPA, Denogginizer is a big bold beer hopped with an abundant amount of Simcoe and Amarillo with a touch of Ahtanum and Chinook. Mashed with Crystal malt and Caramalt for color and flavor to help balance out the hop assault. Denogginizer is also Drake’s most powerful regular offering, at a whopping 10% alcohol by volume!

Pours orange. Mouthfeel was puckering but also soft. The malt profile was fairly light, nothing dark really. Plenty of fresh hop flavor and citrus/pine. A bit sweet.

Poured from the tap at the brewery. Good but too sweet for my taste. Hoppywith a nice balance with the malts. Creamy mouth feel and piney, citrus nose. Solid but not great.

Bottle. Pours a copper hue with a thin light ran head. Nose is delicious sweet hops. Varied hop notes and lots of em with a big malt. Grapefruit abounds with a mild and Semi sweet finish.

22oz bomber. Pours a hazy deep orange color with 2 fingers of fluffy white head that disappeared quickly. Aroma is citrusy. Lemon, oranges, and a slight hint of caramel. Taste is lemon, orange, tangerine, some caramel tones, and a spicy/peppery aftertaste.

22oz bottle, shared by DanielCoor. Clear red / orange color. Good khaki head. Nice lace. Really nice piney hoppy orange citrus aroma. Bigger body. Smooth texture, lighter carbonation. Nice sweet taste, light bitter in the finish. Enjoyable DIPA.

22oz bomber via trade. Poured a clear copper orange body with lots of clinging bubbles and a foamy mostly white head. Aroma is boozy, lots grapefruit...rind and pulp, some metallic copper note. fuller bodied with rather strong carbonation and a lingering bitter aftertaste. Flavor of old citrus fruits, rind, slight alcohol, rotting lemons. Okay but the regular Drake’s DIPA killed this one.

Great Inperial IPA. Loads of caramel, tropical fruits, pine and grass. Very well balanced. Not as aggressively hoppy as I expected, but still very nice! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A good standby for IPA people and readily available in Nor Cal (brewed in San Leandro), Drake’s aroma and appearance are one of the better around. A little down on taste however, lacking in the lingering of the hops that I prefer in a beer, but still one of my favorites.
