COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Silver Medal winner for Imperial India Pale Ale, Great American Beer Festival 2009. Besides Jolly Roger, this is probably Drake’s most renowned beer. An Imperial (or Double) IPA, Denogginizer is a big bold beer hopped with an abundant amount of Simcoe and Amarillo with a touch of Ahtanum and Chinook. Mashed with Crystal malt and Caramalt for color and flavor to help balance out the hop assault. Denogginizer is also Drake’s most powerful regular offering, at a whopping 10% alcohol by volume!

(En fût à Flights El Segundo): Un corps moelleux et résineux à la fois, du sapinage, des abricôts et quelques feuilles de thé. L’amertume est souple comme la texture.

(Drakes Denogginizer) Bottle 650 ml at home, served into a shaker, ABV 9.7% Orange colour on the body, crystal clear, with a full finger of white thick head on top, with very good retention in spite od its small size. Not very strong aroma, some caramel malts, light orange, biscuit. Taste is better, strong alcohol from the first sip, with caramel malts, biscuit, light grapefruit, plenty of orange, hints of tropical fruits on the finish along with a nice bitterness. Medium body, good carbonation, slightly dry palate. Good, highly drinkable.

PotjeBier (2526) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - MAR 20, 2016
Tap @ Beer Temple, sample size, shared with Abijen & MarcodL. Hazy amber color. Uneven white head. Aroma’s: resin, malty sweetness. Retronasal there’s hoppy sourness and malty swetness. Flavor is moderate bitter, not very outspoken. Rather strong alcohol feel. Medium bodied. Finishes rather dry and rather bitter.

Draft at beertemple. Golden pour. Aroma of pine, bitter hop and some malt. Thin flavor of caramelised malt, pine, raisinous hop and some mild citric fruit. Expected more from this.

Dark orange pour with a tall beige head that gives way to a lacing that sticks to the side of the glass. Dank and piney smell, with notes of grapefruit, tropical fruit and salt. Bitter-sweet taste, with notes of grapefruit, gooseberris, unripe apples and herbal hops. The alcohol is present and noticeable, otherwise this would have been a much better beer.

Bottle at Gordon Biersch - Oakland airport. Surprising find, pricy, but worth it. Medium golden body, small creamy head, curtains of lacing on the glass. Dank, funky, hoppy, but still can detect the solid malt backbone. Lingering bite, mildly dry, but where’s the heat? I’m sure it will catch me later. Deserving of its high marks.

Draught at Eatrellita’s in Palo Alto. Pours clear orange with white head that dissipates bit leaves slight patterns on the glass. Aroma is assertive pine and moderate citrus. Flavors leans to heavy orange and overt piney resins. Moderate caramel malt and residual sweetness balance nicely. There is a high bitterness on the back that I did not like.

Keg at Jupiter. Pours clear, rich gold with a creamy off-white head. Rich citrus hops in the nose, pine. Medium sweet flavor with bready malts, pine, light bitter grass, papaya, melon, orange. Full bodied with average carbonation. Warming and resinous finish, lots of juicy citrus. A nicely rounded DIPA.

Draught at Jupiter. Clear amber liquid with medium off-white head. Aroma of citrus, tangerine, mango, light biscuit and light grain. Taste is light sweet and medium to high bitter with notes of citrus, caramel, light booze, pineapple and grain. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Nice but too malty for my taste.
