4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JAN 27, 2013 Kind of partial to Drakes, since I grew up in San Leandro. Poured from a bomber, new penny copper, with a nice off white head that lingered. Nose was on the sweet fruity side, with hints of fresh cut pine. Nice taste, again, on the sweet side, with a little spice thrown in. Medium bodies with a nice long finish.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle pours orange color with off white head. Aroma was citrus and bready notes. Medium mouthfeel. Flavors were bready or biscuit with a touch of citrus. I thought it would have been more bitter. Still a nice brew to try.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
wow, great iipa! locally made, only $6.50 for a bomber. combine that with the fact that this beer is extremely drinkable, and the fact that is has nearly 10%(label on newest batch states 9.75%), and you have a really damn good deal hear. the hop profile is very nice, and its balanced nicely with a light biscuity backbone about half way through the sip. the finish is incredibly smooth, bitter but not unpleasant, this beer drinks scary easy.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22oz bomber, bottled 8/4/2010, from south bay. pours a clear copper with a full, two-finger, off-white head leaving rings of drippy lace. aroma is great with loads of big, fresh, fruity hop notes of candied oranges, pink grapefruit, and tangerine with sweet notes of passion fruit, pineapple, and apricot backed by light pine and sugary, biscuity, malts. flavor is wonderful, almost like biting into a fresh, sugar-coated peach with notes of pink grapefruit, red berries, and blood oranges in the background along with hints of toffee, rye malts, and wet grass leading into a bold, bitter, yet fruity slightly sweet finish. palate is medium bodied with bright carbonation and drying on the tongue. overall, a very unique, fruit forward, and slightly sweet version of a west coast dipa. delicious. i wonder if the folks who said this one was overly malty were rating stale bottles? this was nothing but fruity, fresh hops for me.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Brownish amber body and a medium sized off-white head. Aroma has some candied orange that gives way to lots of grapefruit, citrus, pine and some caramel and bready notes in the background. Taste fairly balanced with lots of sweetness and bitterness. Flavors of piney hops, tropical fruit, orange, grapefruit, some pithy bitterness, caramel sweetness, malt and some spice. Nicely carbonated and finishes fairly bitter. Mouthfeel is medium and despite the sweetness, wasnít cloying with the alcohol and bitterness drying things out. Excellent.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
bomber thanks to daSilky1. Pours amber with a tan head. Nose is of overripe fruit. Taste is malty and bready. Not what I like in a double IPA. Mouthfeel is medium and bitter with lots of carbonation.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber from City Beer, SF. Enjoyed during the JCB family reunion in SF. Rock on! Before pouring and drinking this bad boy, I was unaware that it was so intentionally a malt-forward example of a West Coast DIPA. So I was a bit perplexed that a beer I knew had just been released gave off such a sweet bready aroma. Then my slow brain caught on and I began to dig what the beer was about. The deep lustrous orange and creamy head look the part, and there are certainly some bitter notes detectable in the nose. But when you get into the sippage, the creamy mouthfeel complements the malts extremely well, and there are some lovely citrus and pine notes that come in to give shape to the beer rather than simply emerging as an afterthought. Nicely distinctive and superbly balanced.

Tasted at DDOS tasting. Light brown pour. Spicy rye and citrus aroma. Taste is thick resiny citrus hop and a nice rye spice balance. Good stuff.
