COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Silver Medal winner for Imperial India Pale Ale, Great American Beer Festival 2009. Besides Jolly Roger, this is probably Drake’s most renowned beer. An Imperial (or Double) IPA, Denogginizer is a big bold beer hopped with an abundant amount of Simcoe and Amarillo with a touch of Ahtanum and Chinook. Mashed with Crystal malt and Caramalt for color and flavor to help balance out the hop assault. Denogginizer is also Drake’s most powerful regular offering, at a whopping 10% alcohol by volume!

Burnt orange color pour with a creamy head. Aroma of caramel, citrus, pine and a hint of vanilla and spice. Flavor is sweet malt with a light bitter spicy finish. Different, but good.

Bottle pours orange-gold with an off-white head. Aroma shows notes of candied orange peel, caramel, light brown sugar, florals, pine, and a touch of vanilla. Flavor shows basically the same. Overall body is moderate and sticky.

Thanks Ken for bringing me a Drake’s, a bomber too. Orange body with two inch thick head. Hoppy aroma, and good orange citrus bitterness. Alcohol hidden so decent drinkability.

Dunno, it was good, but i don’t see why people fall all over themselves for it. Obligatory big hop mnose. grapefruit and more Citrus rind abound. Good full body. Sticky and alcoholic with a hoppy finish. Good, but there are so many better examples out there.

Bottle. Dark orange, thin white head with whispy lacing. Nose is thick bread malts and alcohol warmth, pine resin and citrus. Flavor is very stiff and malty throughout with moderate-high hop bitterness and resiny hop flavor, hints of caramel, finishes sweet with alcohol warmth. Full bodied, moderate carbonation, oily and chewy texture. A big, strong ale with hefty hop bitterness, oil lingers on the palate for a while, alcohol heft detracts from drinkability.

Tasted on 12/19/10 from a bomber bottle, I am not sure who brought this one. Pours clear orange with a thick white head that leaves even lace. The nose is resin and citrus hops with a good amount of orange (juice and fresh) and a solid caramel malt backbone. The flavor is resin, orange flower, and the caramel malt backing everything up. The body is medium with average carbonation and a long bitter finish.
