Silver Medal winner for Imperial India Pale Ale, Great American Beer Festival 2009. Besides Jolly Roger, this is probably Drake’s most renowned beer. An Imperial (or Double) IPA, Denogginizer is a big bold beer hopped with an abundant amount of Simcoe and Amarillo with a touch of Ahtanum and Chinook. Mashed with Crystal malt and Caramalt for color and flavor to help balance out the hop assault. Denogginizer is also Drake’s most powerful regular offering, at a whopping 10% alcohol by volume!

Bottle. Pours hazy amber with an off-white head with good lacing. Aroma of citrus hops with faint peach. Not as bitter as I expected. Starts off sweet caramel malty goodness followed by hops and finishes slightly bitter.

Bottle shared by Joe "Kan is a beautiful man" Muck, thanks a lot! Poured a clear amber with a gray head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma was full of pine with a bit of floral and citrus and a cereal backing. Flavor had a nice transformation from pine to light fruit, citrus and cereal finish.

UPDATED: JAN 27, 2013 Kind of partial to Drakes, since I grew up in San Leandro. Poured from a bomber, new penny copper, with a nice off white head that lingered. Nose was on the sweet fruity side, with hints of fresh cut pine. Nice taste, again, on the sweet side, with a little spice thrown in. Medium bodies with a nice long finish.

Bottle pours orange color with off white head. Aroma was citrus and bready notes. Medium mouthfeel. Flavors were bready or biscuit with a touch of citrus. I thought it would have been more bitter. Still a nice brew to try.

wow, great iipa! locally made, only $6.50 for a bomber. combine that with the fact that this beer is extremely drinkable, and the fact that is has nearly 10%(label on newest batch states 9.75%), and you have a really damn good deal hear. the hop profile is very nice, and its balanced nicely with a light biscuity backbone about half way through the sip. the finish is incredibly smooth, bitter but not unpleasant, this beer drinks scary easy.

22oz bomber, bottled 8/4/2010, from south bay. pours a clear copper with a full, two-finger, off-white head leaving rings of drippy lace. aroma is great with loads of big, fresh, fruity hop notes of candied oranges, pink grapefruit, and tangerine with sweet notes of passion fruit, pineapple, and apricot backed by light pine and sugary, biscuity, malts. flavor is wonderful, almost like biting into a fresh, sugar-coated peach with notes of pink grapefruit, red berries, and blood oranges in the background along with hints of toffee, rye malts, and wet grass leading into a bold, bitter, yet fruity slightly sweet finish. palate is medium bodied with bright carbonation and drying on the tongue. overall, a very unique, fruit forward, and slightly sweet version of a west coast dipa. delicious. i wonder if the folks who said this one was overly malty were rating stale bottles? this was nothing but fruity, fresh hops for me.

Slightly hazy orange with a fluffy white head. Citrus hops aroma. Sticky palate and tastes of candy sugar caramel and bitter orange with a burnt finish.

Bottle. Brownish amber body and a medium sized off-white head. Aroma has some candied orange that gives way to lots of grapefruit, citrus, pine and some caramel and bready notes in the background. Taste fairly balanced with lots of sweetness and bitterness. Flavors of piney hops, tropical fruit, orange, grapefruit, some pithy bitterness, caramel sweetness, malt and some spice. Nicely carbonated and finishes fairly bitter. Mouthfeel is medium and despite the sweetness, wasn’t cloying with the alcohol and bitterness drying things out. Excellent.

Double IPA. Copper Color, not much head. lots of maltiness and hoppy throughout. Relatively high gravity that i seem to notice while drinking it.

bomber thanks to daSilky1. Pours amber with a tan head. Nose is of overripe fruit. Taste is malty and bready. Not what I like in a double IPA. Mouthfeel is medium and bitter with lots of carbonation.
