COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Silver Medal winner for Imperial India Pale Ale, Great American Beer Festival 2009. Besides Jolly Roger, this is probably Drake’s most renowned beer. An Imperial (or Double) IPA, Denogginizer is a big bold beer hopped with an abundant amount of Simcoe and Amarillo with a touch of Ahtanum and Chinook. Mashed with Crystal malt and Caramalt for color and flavor to help balance out the hop assault. Denogginizer is also Drake’s most powerful regular offering, at a whopping 10% alcohol by volume!

Pitcher Pour @ Hopgeist. Amber color, mild lace, light nose. Sweet start with a bitter finish, great balance with a bit of citrus orange notes. (rest of notes illegible due to beer damage)

On draft. Zero aroma. Terrific lacing. Flavors are all subdued. Bitter toast, faint chocolate malts, nothing terribly distinct.

Bottle. Clear copper. Bottled 6 months ago, but the hops really held up and had a crisp rich pine/ grassy note. Caramel malt. Medium carb with a big full mouthfeel. Good stuff

"a darker, very piney and thick double ipa with a sweet malt kick. this one almost stands out a little from the crowd, though all three of drake’s offerings were good (the other 2 were better) and a little unique."

glennmastrange (2324) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - OCT 1, 2014
Bottle. Moderate malt aromas of roasted and caramel, moderate to heavy grapefruit peel for the hops, light soap for the yeast, with pineapple and a mix of light dried fruit. Head is small, frothy with some bigger bubbles, slightly off-white with good lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear, medium to dark amber. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly sweet, moderately acidic and lightly to moderately bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, between oily and creamy, with a soft to lively carbonation, and finishes lightly astringent and moderately alcoholic. Nice DIPA. Relatively mild in aroma and flavor up front with just a small bite in the end.
