Silver Medal winner for Imperial India Pale Ale, Great American Beer Festival 2009. Besides Jolly Roger, this is probably Drake’s most renowned beer. An Imperial (or Double) IPA, Denogginizer is a big bold beer hopped with an abundant amount of Simcoe and Amarillo with a touch of Ahtanum and Chinook. Mashed with Crystal malt and Caramalt for color and flavor to help balance out the hop assault. Denogginizer is also Drake’s most powerful regular offering, at a whopping 10% alcohol by volume!

Pours golden orange with brown hues and a big white head. Nose is rich caramel, molasses, honey and pine. Taste is sweet for a second the. The hop smack in the face is delivered with great bitterness. Mouthfeel is sticky and creamy, body is heavy and the finish is long. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle thanks to Alen. Bottled 5/29/14. Clear golden-copper pour with a big foamy head that fades to nice ring and leaves great lacing. One of the best appearances I’ve seen. Aromas are orange peel, flowers, sugary caramel malt, and light tropical fruit. Tastes just as malty as it is hoppy. Thick bread, caramel, moderate dank, oranges, flowers, honey, and light pine. Light bitterness. More malt than hops in the finish. Medium to full body. Very oily mouthfeel. Overall really good but would be better with more hops. I’m guessing I would rate a fresher bottle higher.

Solid amber color beer with a two-finger off-white head. Big malt aromas provide a solid base for big grapefruit, accompanied by some earthiness and syrup. Taste follows, tons of malt and citrus. Really not that complicated. Full body, minimal carbonation, sticky mouthfeel and a syrupy finish.

Pours an amber orange color with a nice head, nose is citrus with more resin and pine. Taste is bitter, with a predominance of resin and deep pine, citrus is hidden on this one. Finish is bitter and ends on the same testing notes. Quaff Score 7 / 10
