COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Silver Medal winner for Imperial India Pale Ale, Great American Beer Festival 2009. Besides Jolly Roger, this is probably Drakeís most renowned beer. An Imperial (or Double) IPA, Denogginizer is a big bold beer hopped with an abundant amount of Simcoe and Amarillo with a touch of Ahtanum and Chinook. Mashed with Crystal malt and Caramalt for color and flavor to help balance out the hop assault. Denogginizer is also Drakeís most powerful regular offering, at a whopping 10% alcohol by volume!

From tap at Stone Bistro. Pours hazy dark orange with a small white head. Grapefruity ad orange hoppy aroma. Flavour is grapefruity with a light touch of winegrapes and more solid grapefruity flavours. Smooth hoppy and light malt base flavoured finish. Nice and easy.

On tap. Clear amber golden with an off-white and lacing head. Sweetish peachy hop aroma. Quite full-bodied, sweet caramel and fat peachy hops that leave a surprisingly discreet bitterness. Warming alcohol in the finish. 070709

Clear red beer, little white head. Light hoppy nose. Softish palate, semi dry. Aniseed alcohol and pine hops. Traces of grapefruit and pineapple. Bitter finish. Smooth but could do with less obvious alcohol and more hoppy fruits.

Bottle from Zombier, MŠlaga, Spain
Quite surprisingly the color is amber and cloudy, while most American beers are yeast-clean usually. The aroma is nutty caramel, with toasted almonds; then some citrusy hops; Iím not sure why, but i think Iím at the Brickskeller right now.
Very good caramel flavor, with toasted malt and nuts compensation, very strong bitterness, and a lean resins finish; armies of bitter oranges, and some almonds too.
Maybe because itís a change from the other beers iím having, but this one is excellent.

Can at ZBF 08, thanks to Phil_l. Beautiful amber colour. Lots of big American hops, resiny, slightly empty in terms of malts. Bit metallic on the hops. Some good toffee. Very hoppy on end, but itís a metallic unbalanced hop. Some pepper, hot hop on finish, just a bit too big and unbalanced. Met the brewer, Roger, the following day at Struise and he is a very nice guy.
