COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A big, malty beast of a beer that exemplifies the way we roll here at Drakeís. Two-row malt is blended with Chocolate malt, roasted barley, and dark Crystal malts to make up the grist. Only one hop addition, Columbus, is added for bittering, allowing the abundance of malt in this beer to shine through. Enjoy the dense brownish head, the silky maltiness, and flavors of licorice, coffee and chocolate, rounded out with a slightly dry finish. hereís to those who donít fear the mighty!

Black dark brown, mocha head. Nose of coffee, caramel, chopped dried fruits, toasted almond. Medium body. Strong and balanced but missed some complexity, warm, bitter aftertaste.

Bottle at tasting. Pours black, tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate, roasty. Taste is more of the same, coffee notes too. Ok, but a bit one-dimensional.

Bottle at Appellation Comely Bank tasting thanks to either Stuu666 or McNeillR. Appearance - opaque black with the slightest red chink. Nose - dark chocolate, a hint of smoke and then bitter coffee. Taste - more dark chocolate, something earthy in there too, bitter coffee on the finish. Palate - medium bodied with a big dry roasty middle section and a dry malty coffee finish. Overall - itís good, but for this alcohol strength I hoped for another dimension to add to chocolate/coffee.

Smooth and drinkable with a chocolaty, licorice aftertaste. It does have a strong dry finish but its not bad. Good example of what to expect from an imperial stout.

Bottle @ San Leandro Costco: jet black color with a tan head. Malty aroma of red wine, unsweetened yogurt, and dark chocolate. Sweet flavors of chocolate paper, and some sweet spices like clove perhaps. Thick feel and great finish.

660ml bottle (shared by FatPhil, thanks). Pitch black color. Medium size, brown head, stays. Looks beautiful. Malty, chocolate aroma. Chocolate malts, roast in taste. Roast in aftertaste. Feels bit thin, but alcohol is very well covered.
