4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured from a 500 mL bottle. It poured to a a thin brown head atop a really dark black-red body. Good lacing. The aroma is hugely chocolate, some coffee, plum. The flavor is much of the same. I donít notice any alcohol in the flavor or palate. The flavor isnít overly strong. I do get a strong chocolate coffee flavor in the finish. Very well balanced. The palate is very smooth and creamy. Thick and full bodied.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
pours a deep dark color w/ some red hughes and a thick tan head ok lacing. smells of coffee and roasted malt and some bittersweet chocolate fairly basic for an IS. Palate is fairly plane ok coating not a lot of creamy pretty middle of the road. Flavor is a very roasted malt almost burnt and lightly smoky oaky.. a bit over the top to me hints of coffee and some carmel. overall ok but not a great IS by any means. Thanks to Blake for sharing.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A frothy tan head forms over this black-bodied Imperial Stout.
Deep coffe aroma.
Some sourness becomes a turn-off in the flavor dept. Maybe thereís lemons in there to prevent the scurvy. This was good ítill the sour kicked in.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A dark black appearance with a beige/tan head. The aroma is day old coffee, chocolate, and plums. A bitter and sour colaberation going on. Coffee on the frontal attack, some grapes playing back up and kicking you in a tastebuds. The alcohol is barely noticable. That sour ting is not settling to well with me but overall this is a well crafted brew.

The head is light tan, almost yellow. The body is black as expected. The aroma is sweet maple and some caramel. Slightly buttery. The taste is light coffee with a little bit of toffee and iced tea. Nice smooth body.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
(16.9 oz flip-top bottle: $4.99 at Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, CA) Opaque and black as a cave deep inside the belly of a mountain, and topped by a thick but short-lived light brown head, this medium-to-full bodied brew is solid and very respectable, but not quite in the ranks of the big boys. Fairly sweet, chocolaty and malty early, with some roast and coffee soon emerging, and then fairly hoppy and bitter in the finish. All the elements of a great Imperial Stout, but something is missing and not quite satisfying me. Then again, Iíve had some pretty amazing Imperial Stouts tonight. As the beer warms, however, a nice earthy, mushroom flavor livens up the party. The nose is principally a fairly strong and obvious sweet chocolate, but also yeasty and earthy, with a slight smokiness poking through at times. Sufficient body for the style, but thinner than many others, not dense and fully-coating, and maybe that is whatís missing. The alcohol is also fairly moderate for the style. I like this beer a lot, but it has stiff competition in a crowded field.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
An oily brew consisting of flavors of bitter raisin and molasses. Chocolate fills oneís nose. A clever bottle, but not much more to be impressed with. Flat and without the thickness that one expects with an Imperial Stout.
