COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A big, malty beast of a beer that exemplifies the way we roll here at Drake’s. Two-row malt is blended with Chocolate malt, roasted barley, and dark Crystal malts to make up the grist. Only one hop addition, Columbus, is added for bittering, allowing the abundance of malt in this beer to shine through. Enjoy the dense brownish head, the silky maltiness, and flavors of licorice, coffee and chocolate, rounded out with a slightly dry finish. here’s to those who don’t fear the mighty!

Thanks to Kawa for this one! Pours black, dark tan head that slowly fades to a ring. Aroma of chocolate, a bit of coffee, and warming alcohol. Flavor of dark chocolate, a bit of coffee, and hint of dark fruit. This is an enjoyable, drinking Impy Stout, doesn’t have to be sipped. Nice.

Pours black with a giant, frothy on bottom, rocky on top, light brown head. Roasted nose with some sweet vanilla. Strong french vanilla coffee taste with some dark chocolate in the finish. Alcohol hidden very well. Another awesome surprise from my Secret Santa!!

very deep brown color, not opaque, head is light brown, somewhat lasting. aroma is loaded with cocoa, vanilla, and some alcohol. flavor is heavily roasted, mild chocolate, raisin and woodiness. alcohol is fairly well hidden in flavor.

This was included as 1 of 12 Imperial Stouts in a tasting I hosted on 1/2/05. This brew was in the top 5, it has excellent balance and a bit of spicy character that distinguishes it. Overall very good.

Pitch black coloured body with a very thin light brown head. Aroma of coffee, cardboard, light prunes and roasted malt. Medium-bodied; Strong roasty malt flavour with a coffee twang and some pit fruit in the finish. Aftertaste a bit bitter, but doesn’t show off the chocolate flavours at all. Overall, lacking in so many ways-truly a sub-par Imperial Stout. I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased at BevMo in Danville, California on 23-November-2004 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Pours a thick foamy light brown head on a beautiful pitch black body. Lots of coffee, roasted malt and sweet fruity notes in the aroma with some alcohol also. Harsh roasted flavor with a burned tone and bitter hops in the finish. Full taste but rather sharp and not very complex, it almost hurts on the tongue. Weird.

Poured a little more thin than I expected, but black with a rich khaki head none the less...smell is coffee, chocolate, alcohol...taste is a little thin, but still has the chocolate in the body with a subtle coffee and alcohol finish...quite nice...didn’t seem as high as 9% for sure...still a little thin for my liking...

Qute nice Stout. A bit roasted and smoked. Very black. I would like to have seen some more bitterness in the finish.
