COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A big, malty beast of a beer that exemplifies the way we roll here at Drake’s. Two-row malt is blended with Chocolate malt, roasted barley, and dark Crystal malts to make up the grist. Only one hop addition, Columbus, is added for bittering, allowing the abundance of malt in this beer to shine through. Enjoy the dense brownish head, the silky maltiness, and flavors of licorice, coffee and chocolate, rounded out with a slightly dry finish. here’s to those who don’t fear the mighty!

Smooth and drinkable with a chocolaty, licorice aftertaste. It does have a strong dry finish but its not bad. Good example of what to expect from an imperial stout.

Bottle @ San Leandro Costco: jet black color with a tan head. Malty aroma of red wine, unsweetened yogurt, and dark chocolate. Sweet flavors of chocolate paper, and some sweet spices like clove perhaps. Thick feel and great finish.

660ml bottle (shared by FatPhil, thanks). Pitch black color. Medium size, brown head, stays. Looks beautiful. Malty, chocolate aroma. Chocolate malts, roast in taste. Roast in aftertaste. Feels bit thin, but alcohol is very well covered.

660ml bottle (BierKompass.de)
Very nice soft roasty aroma, classic American porter. Looks good, dark, sticky dark head too. Full and smooth palate, nice roast. Decent porter, doesn’t seem anywhere near 8+%. I can honestly say that I’d happily chug this in quantity, it’s remarkably drinkable. Nice, very nice, but just nice. Honesty, this is a classic porter, not impy stout, and that’s not intended as anything apart from a compliment.

BBD: not found.
In short: robust tasty Imp. Stout.
Pours very dark with nice tan head. Short head retention, some lacing. Roasty, coffee, liquorice aromas. Medium body, soft carbonation, viscous texture. Taste is smooth, moderate bitterness, chocolate, coffee, roasty flavours, some liquorice. Ends dry and bitter. Quite enjoyable. A really nice and pleasant Imp. Stout, not too much abv, very well balanced, smooth.
