On tap at Drakes Barrel House. Pours black with a fluffy tan head and a smoky treacle aroma. Very smooth due to the nitro, with the smokiest chocolate malt flavor I have tasted in a stout. It’s dry alright.

Nitro tap. Pours with a near black body with a persistent nitro tan head. Aromas of toasted malt, nutty, mild roast and crackery. Clean yeast wise. Somewhat muted with nitrogen. Flavors are malty, roasty, and dry. Light nuttiness with a mild acidity. Some salinity. Minimal esters. Low carbonation, medium body, creamy mouthfeel.

On tap at Drake’s Barrel House pouring up via nitro with deep dark mahogany body with infrared edges and thick tight creamy nitro mocha head. The aroma offers up a nice malt roastiness with some burnt malts around the edges. The taste has a bit of nitro pour creaminess that creates a highly roasted maltiness, a touch of chocolate malts, some earthiness and then ramping up into increasing levels of burnt maltiness. Nice thickly roasty brew.

On tap at Churchill in San Francisco. Dark brown in color with a creamy 1.5-finger tan head that lasts. The aroma is very nice with huge chocolate notes, roast, and coffee. Intensity is almost what I’d expect from an imperial stout. The flavor is excellent with big chocolate - dark chocolate mostly - as well as smooth roastiness. Great balance of sweetness and dryness. Smooth, creamy, mouthfeel that is fairly drying with a good level of carbonation. A really great dry stout overall. Drake’s is really stepping up its game.
