Cask. Onslaught of hops. Bitterness keeps pace but malt falls way behind. Though it is very bitter. Great floral of hop, almost tastes like a wet hop. The low carb keeps the hop nice and forward. Very pleased.

UPDATED: APR 25, 2007 Tapped at Hollingshead Deli in Orange Calif.
Good gracious this was delightful! I had not had a beer in a week, so my palate was ready for something delicious and this was fantastic. Quite aromatic in aroma and the flavor was thick, hoppy with some apricot tones. I wanted 6 more of these but I live 40 miles away. I had a Stone Ruination afterwards, which is a huge Staple type beer for me (in other words I love it) and the Drake was more rich full and complex. Is this available in bottles???

(03/2007. Draft). The perfect antidote for an ex-pat returned from travels in the land of beers sweet and sour, this should be on top of everyone’s "give me hops ... now!" list. Par usual for these guys, it tends towards the more amber hues for the style, with a distinct orange tone. A nose full of hops (spicy, grassy, catty, citrus ... the whole gamut from this brewer’s palette anxiously waiting to leap out and destroy your palate). A big malt backbone with cara coming through against the hop assault. Hops up front. Hops coating your tongue like an oil slick. Hops all the way down your gullet. Mmmmmm, tasty. Never over-the-top, we’re looking for this brewery to come up with something a bit more bitter next time ... after all, it was almost balanced in the end. What’s that all about???

Amber with minimal head. Medium body citrus hops throughout. Alcohol well masked. Bitter finish.

On tap at Toronado. Dark orange color, lots of traditional hop citrus and pine aroma with an extra little something I couldn’t pick out until ready IrishBoy’s review -- ivy. Weird but enjoyable. Flavor was well balanced with creamy caramel malt and an oppressive hop bitterness. A non-beer friend I was with almost spit it out.

On tap - Toronado & DIPA Festival
pours mahogany with a light tn head... long lasting lace..
Huge huge nose of herbal, floral, tangerine and toffeish malts followed with some sticky resiny notes
Flavors: Starts malty before wave after wave of hop flavors take over everything from spicy (white pepper) earthy, fruity (citrus) and a great bite to balance caramel, toast and honey like base mats and some resiny notes afterwards
palate: medium light bodied with a restrained carbonation allowing the resiny citrusy finish to linger
Overall: MY top choice at the DIPA festival 2007 (Bistro) from sniff to sip and finish a huge WOW!!! Cheers.. Thank you Rodger ... what fantastic DIPA... a gem amongst other "BIG" DIPA ABSOLUTELY WORTH Seeking out
