UPDATED: MAR 1, 2013 Clear copper-orange body, large off-white head, sticky lacing. Nose is grapefruit, resin, a tad herbaceous and grassy. Flavor is similar with a focus on resin and grapefruit. Medium bodied, gentle carbonation, assertively bitter. Tasty.

Very good beer. Pours darker than a typical IPA. Strong hop bitterness and nice citrus and pine notes. Kinda creamy with a lack of carbonation. Very good beer.

Bottle - thanks Mike! Pours clear amber with a medium off-white head that dissipates with nice lacing. Aroma is grapefruit, pine resin, a touch of cat piss. Flavor is about the same, lightly sweet with a touch of caramel, medium bitter lingering to the finish. Medium bodied and oily in the mouth.

Pours a nice Orange with a hint of amber. A nice sticky lace on the head. First smell almost smelled a little to malty. Second smell the hops really started coming around as the head dissipated. Carbonate stings the tonge a little then the malts really show with a semi dry hoppy finish.. a very good beer. Not my favorite but definitely a good brew. I would drink again.

Tap @ The Bistro’s 2010 10th Annual Double IPA Festival. A yellow color with a laced white head. A wonderfully bitter, sweet, citrus and pine aroma with a crisp flavor. Smooth.

Bottle. Clear copper color, two fingers of foam but it disappears after a few minutes, decent lacing. The aroma is very earthy: spruce forest with a dank, musty character. Flavor is much the same, sharply bitter up front, softens toward the finish leaving a pleasant resinous aftertaste. Not detecting any of the malt. Good beer for hop heads. Better than the triple.

8th November 2011 Hazy amber beer with tidy off white head. Smooth and silky palate with prickly carbonation. Creamy malt with a trace of caramel. Nice piney hops with a little mint character. Sweet peach - slightly floral. Towards the finish grapefruit bitterness. Really nicely joined up and hugely drinkable.

Live tasting, bomber into Duvel tulip...
Appearance; pours a remarkably clear copper/orange/burnt sienna color... Two fingers of bubbly off white head quickly dissolve, and retention is minimal... Very thin film is all that remains after a minute or so... Minimal amount of blotchy lacing...
Smell; opens with generic tropics and citrus, having a slightly difficult time pinning down specifics... A dull carmel sweetness hangs around in the glass as well.
Taste; generic tropical fruits, strong grapefruit and orange rinds, good resinous finish but not too much pine... I do get mild hints of caramel... Spice comes in as the bitterness starts to come into full bloom... As it warms up a little, things are changing a bit, there is significantly more bitterness as well as a slight alcohol/resin bite on the finish.
Mouthfeel; solid mouthfeel, good carbonation and full medium to light full bodied... Slightly sticky finish with a moderate bitterness that hangs around..
Overall; a rock sold DIPA, but I was hoping for a bit more bitterness and perhaps some more complexity... Absolutely not bad but perhaps a little vanilla compared to some of the offerings I’ve had recently... Would love to get my hands on the black label!!
