Pour is transparent golden amber with a tight white head. Nose is bready malt, faint grain, lots of oily resinous hop aromas, pine and faint citrus. Taste is extremely oily, tons of hop resins, syrupy fully body, moderate bitterness and a steel like taste through the finish.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
sadly, this is not nearly as good a batch as last years edition. missing the complexity, subtlety and depth that last years batch had. tastes as if one or two of the main hops are missing and the malt quotient has been increased. .. sigh. clearly, not the same recipe or the execution is lacking. one of my top 3 DIPAs from 2013 so big disappointment for me with the 2013 edition. still a solid double but not up to drakeís usual standards IMO.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle from South Bay Liquor: Appeared a golden liquid with a slight bit of sediment haze while a foamy layer of head eventually broke down. Aroma is all hops along with a fruity smell that reminds me of the produce section of a grocery store or walking into a fruteria. The flavor is strong dosage of bitter hops that arenít as overpowering as most other Imperial IPAís aim for but instead has a moderate of citrus and pine like hops that have been rounded out perfectly with the malt, water and yeast used. Although this is not my favorite double IPA, I will have to admit that Hopocalypse is one of the smoothest drinking impy IPAís Iíve tasted considering their high IBUíS and ABV.
