Drake’s winter offering is a deep orange monster that is loosely filtered to keep the integrity of the malt & hops intact. Equal amounts of American two row and English pale are combined with two types of Munich malt, and balanced with Chinook, Cascade & Amarillo hops. Enjoy the massive aroma and flavor of this beer. Available January - March.

Editor’s Note: Please observe the ABV and color of the label. This entry is for the 9.3% DIPA. Previous to 2016, the label had a white background. In 2016, the label is green.

Aroma is full of hop resin and deep citrus notes, that is followed by the toffee-like smell of the malts. The appearance is near perfect however the carbonation was too light. The taste is wonderful. It is not as hoppy as the aroma indicates due to the malt being a very big part of the taste equation. However, the taste is complex and the hops do stand out which I like.

Bomber from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours clear copper with a creamy/bubbly beige head. Cat pee aroma!!! Med plus body. Flavor seems grapefruit over pine with a rather roasted caramel that doesn’t pop up right away. The hops never quit, and the finish is bitter and astringent. Super ale.

22 oz bottle thanks to Jimmay!! Pours bright deep gold with a small dissipating head. Nose is full of aroma, piney, resiny, sweet. Taste is very similar, with a very full body for an IIPA. Luscious, thick, with both a lingering sweetness and then a tart bitterness well after the finish. This is one of the better IIPA’s I’ve had.

Appearance: Pours a bright amber orange with a big fluffy off white head.

Aroma: Peach, tangerine, grapefruit, pine.

Taste: Massive grapefruit, spicy sweet toffee like malt, peach. Finishes with assertive hop bitterness. Doesn’t linger forever, leaving your tongue in just good enough shape to want more and more.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied, modest creamy bubbles.

Overall: A great value with a great execution on a California craft beer staple.

A - Pours a hazy golden-orange with a half finger of frothy off-white head atop. The head fades down fairly quickly leaving behind a bit of lace. S - The aroma is full of pine and tropical fruit hops including some pineapple and grapefruit. There is some caramel sweetness as well with just a touch of floral elements and a bit of alcohol coming through. T - The beer starts off with a big hit of tropical fruit hops with lots of grapefruit flavor and some strong bitterness. There is just a bit of sweet caramel malt flavor coming through for some balance. Through the middle, more of the grassy and pine flavored hops hit the tongue with even more bitterness with a bit of floral flavor. The finish is a mix of mango, pineapple, sweet caramel, bitterness, and a touch of alcohol. M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a dry and very bitter finish that really lingers. D - Very drinkable. Really big hoppy DIPA. The hop profile is really nice and has a good blend of different hop flavors and the malt is strong enough to keep up well.

Bottle courtesy of Wavers1. Pours a straw orange with minimal head. Aroma is oranges, peaches, light spruce, and grass. Taste is wonderfully cirtusy with light pine and a really great dry bitter finish that is smooth and inviting. Great beer.
