Hopocalypse Black Label Drakes brewing Triple IPA 12.5% ABV 100 IBU APPEARANCE: Poured a dark over ripe nectarine color, subtle but bright light honey colored variations throughout. Big fluffy loosely bubbled 2 finger head that dissipated slowly leaving a nice spotted lacing on the glass. Really enjoy the color of this beer! AROMA: Smells like I'm cutting fresh fruit for a tropical salad. Mango, papaya and pineapple. Lemon zest and a nice malty sweetness. Very I pressed with the nose on this considering it's a more then a few months old. Juicy and wet aroma not much of a hop present. Possibly slight pine resin but that also could because I know what drinking and what I should be looking for. TASTE: Wow! This tastes amazing. Like a party in my mouth and tropical fruit was invited. So much mango, nectarine candied pineapple but not overwhelming at all. Nice squeeze of fresh lemon comes in and I'm actually picking up some nice muted hops that work really well. I am getting some honey sweet malty goodness coming through I'm assuming more now then would be if fresh. Slight bitterness on the end that really pulls the flavor profile together. MOUTHFEEL: Medium plus body and a lazy low carbonation that just kinda pops and tingles slightly. Light oil slickness with a great bitter warm finish from the high ABV. OVERALL: I was very impressed with this triple for such a high ABV it was very drinkable for me. I enjoyed every last drop! Would love to have had this fresh to compare. It did drink a bit more like a barley wine almost like an aged hopslam. I would for sure search this out either fresh or with age on it any day! My perusal of previous ratings revealed that this beer is polarizing. I loved it. Pours perfect clear pear with mid-sized white head. Super piney scent. Flavor takes a massive bitter hop bite up front and follows with a candy sweet finish. Live mouthfeel. More please. Bottle - Received in Trade

22oz bomber. Thank you Bytemesis for picking up for me. Served cold and left cone to room temp. A big, bold IIIPA. Honey drizzled orange citrus aromas and flavors. Big, rich, and full-bodied. Huge malt backbone. Nothing subtle about this beer. --- tasted while on a long journey to understand the world around me...

A - pours golden amber with low white head. S - nice aromas of passion fruit lead the nose. Resiny and dank musty hops follow. Caramel malts to end. M - thick heavy body. Full palate. Dry bitter end. T - this is dank. Resiny/pine meddle hops with a passion fruit under tone. Honey and catty notes. Caramely malts. O - this is an aggressive dank ipa. Cali agro ipas need to get over themselves. Mine is Hoppier than yours. 3

The most orange gold appearance. Huge grapefruit and piney resin nose. Very sweet nose like the most cheap of candies and caramel candied ice cream coating. Taste. This is a very hot "IPA" I use quotes cause it’s really a barleywine. It’s the most dank boozy citrus bomb. And it great but needs to be shared. Don’t take this one on yourself.

Cat piss dank resin. Unbelievable color. Way better than the 2013 version. better than the green label this year. Does not taste like 12.5. finishes dry. great cat piss aroma with dry citrus finish

on tap at the Barrel House 2/1 a bit sticky mouthfeel, look is murky orange w. a little ring of lace, not much of a nose on this reaaly, wet dog scent? expecting more, something to be desired, man, I must be honest, if I set the bar with PtY, this triple IPA would be average.

Bottled 31JAN13 Golden with a solid quilt of fine creamy foam. Smells like pineapples, mangos, some weed, some pine and more juicy pineapples; hints of honey in the malt. Flavor is a bit boozy, sweet, some bitterness, some of the bitterness is spicy and there is a certain tangerine character here also. Alcohol remains a little too much for my liking. Medium bodied with moderate carb and a semi dry finish. Nice beer.

Got in a trade with TheFugitive. 22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours very hazy deep orange amber color with a 2 finger dense off white head with great retention; that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of huge pineapple, tangerine, grapefruit, mango, orange peel, lemon zest, floral, pine, caramel, honey, grass, and floral earthiness; with some light booze. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of tropical/citrus hop notes with a good malt balance; and big strength. Taste of big tangerine, pineapple, grapefruit, orange peel, lemon zest, floral, pine, caramel, honey, grass, and floral earthiness. Good amount of earthy pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, citrus zest, pineapple, floral, pine, caramel, honey, grass, and floral earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice balance and complexity of citrus/tropical hop flavors; with a moderate malt balance that doesn’t overpower the hops; and minimal cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a slick, sticky, and fairly crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is fairly well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an excellent big Imperial IPA. All around great balance and complexity of tropical/citrus hops with good malt balance; and quite smooth to sip on. A bit boozy, but not bad. A very enjoyable offering.
