3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at barrel house. Clear copper, orange color, decent foam and lacing. Alcohol and hops on the nose, citrusy but actually rather subdued. Very bitter flavor, citrus, tobacco (weird), and some caramely malt off in the distance. Bitterness coats the mouth and lingers long in the finish, eventually becoming a grass like flavor. Alcohol is prominent but not overwhelming. Hopocalypse is an apt name but this is not as nuanced as Pliny the Younger or 120 minute. Also not nearly as enjoyable as many other double/triple IPAs.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Golden with a solid quilt of fine creamy foam. Smells like pineapples, mangos, some weed, some pine and more juicy pineapples; hints of honey in the malt. Flavor is a bit boozy, sweet, some bitterness, some of the bitterness is spicy and there is a certain tangerine character here also. Alcohol remains a little too much for my liking. Medium bodied with moderate carb and a semi dry finish. Nice beer.

Got in a trade with TheFugitive. 22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours very hazy deep orange amber color with a 2 finger dense off white head with great retention; that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of huge pineapple, tangerine, grapefruit, mango, orange peel, lemon zest, floral, pine, caramel, honey, grass, and floral earthiness; with some light booze. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of tropical/citrus hop notes with a good malt balance; and big strength. Taste of big tangerine, pineapple, grapefruit, orange peel, lemon zest, floral, pine, caramel, honey, grass, and floral earthiness. Good amount of earthy pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, citrus zest, pineapple, floral, pine, caramel, honey, grass, and floral earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice balance and complexity of citrus/tropical hop flavors; with a moderate malt balance that doesnít overpower the hops; and minimal cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a slick, sticky, and fairly crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is fairly well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an excellent big Imperial IPA. All around great balance and complexity of tropical/citrus hops with good malt balance; and quite smooth to sip on. A bit boozy, but not bad. A very enjoyable offering.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle shared by my friend Eric. Pours cloudy amber with a modest off-white head and a sweet toffee and fruit aroma. There is a hearty caramel malt flavor with massive bitterness that meets the malt sweetness in the middle. Very well-crafted.

Pours semitransparent golden orange with a two finger white head. The nose is grapefruit, tropical fruit, honey and pine. The taste is perfect balance bittersweet. The texture is sticky and oily. The body is heavy and finish long.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz bottle from a Cali trade. Thanks! Pours an orange copper glow, a darkness to it, nice sunset summer orange glow that has a copper dark twang, mellow haze, lively carbonation with cakey tannish head atop. Big and cakey, sticks around and laces well. Aromas are a touch sweet, big hop profile offers grapefruit, lemons, and florals. A mellow dose of pine, more big florals. A touch os sweeter malts, fruit, some of that cotton candy but not much. Just a touch. Biscuits, bread, earthy bitterness. A touch faded but still potent. Initial is medium bodied, firm bitterness meets some sticky malts, a bit carmelized and fruity. Firm dry hops kick lemons, big florals, and a bit of pine. Some sweet cotton candy, caramel, and carmelized malts, bready malts, and mellow fruit. Middle is a touch girthy, firm dry floral hops, some grapefruit, mellow pine. A touch sweet, backend gets a bit hot and dry and pretty quickly overall. A touch messy, a bit toasty and dry bready/grainy malt combination as we round the corner. Some rind oil, firm citrusy fruit, and bigger floral and grassy bitterness tries to combat that sweetness. A bit clunky/girthy into the backend, some sweetness, bready and firm dry bitter earthy hop finish. A touch aged, a bit sweet and hot. Itís a solid beer, if a bit out my personal wheelhouse.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours an amber color with a smallish white head. Nose is hugely filled with pineapple and definitely more so than the White label. Taste is heavy and thick and only very slightly bitter. Good brew.

Bomber from bytemesis - thanks, Mike! Not going to try to top Alexís rating, but "RAR" or not this beer was one of the better balanced and more enjoyable triple IPAs Iíve had. Deep, potent-looking dark orange pour with a lingering filmy head. Some booze in the nose but mostly bright tropical notes and aggressively pungent hops. Very fresh, and that helped immensely (I can see this turning quickly into barleywine territory). Slightly waxy mouthfeel, heavy in places, but still not overly slick or syrupy (bit of a burn in the finish, though). Still manages to taste full, bright, and floral for the most part, even if it lacks much in the way of complexity. But a smooth, rich sipper of an IPA for sure. Enjoyable but would probably seek out the white label again rather than this one.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle shared by Ken and Eric at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. My lucky day. Sitting in the bar and Eric walks in with a bomber. Poured hazy gold with a slight white head. Full bodied. Flavor is a sort of thick* hop sauce - not sweet- just thick and hoppy. Incredibly smooth. No heat. Bitter! Brilliant ale.
*Yeah, thick isnít a flavor, but thatís how my mind wanted it.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
2 Bottles, one aged a year. Light Amber with a little less head on the aged one. With the fresh bottle a lot of hops up front with a little honey for the aroma. This changes a lot with all the hop experience in the finish and most of the aromas come out across the palate. The aged bottle has really nice sweet hops that come late with the full creamy body. Very enjoyable. The fresh bottle feels more crisp with bread and hops that dominate the experience. I personally enjoyed the aged bottle but I was in the minority. Great Triple IPA either way.

Draft @ 13th Bistro Double IPA Festival, Hayward, CA. Pours a slightly hazy golden orange color with a small whitehead. Has a fruity malty zesty grapefruit piney aroma. Fruity malty piney hoppy bitter grapefruit flavor. Has a fruity malty hoppy bitter grapefruit piney finish.
