COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A big, malty beast of a beer that exemplifies the way we roll here at Drake’s. Two-row malt is blended with Chocolate malt, roasted barley, and dark Crystal malts to make up the grist. Only one hop addition, Columbus, is added for bittering, allowing the abundance of malt in this beer to shine through. Enjoy the dense brownish head, the silky maltiness, and flavors of licorice, coffee and chocolate, rounded out with a slightly dry finish. here’s to those who don’t fear the mighty!

Bottle from the Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours a dark brown almost black. Smells of chocolate, licorice and all that good stuff. This beer is right up my alley. Just a little too bitter for my taste.

Pours a dark brown with a brown head. Smells of chocolate and coffee. A sweet beer that is smooth from start to finish. One of my favorite beers.

Bomber. Naturally pitch black with a dense layer of chocolate malt head. The aroma is sweet and roasty with lots of dark chocolate, roast malt, licorice and molasses notes. It tastes fairly similar although it’s a little more bitter and less sweet. The most dominant flavors are roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate and dark roast coffee with some brown sugar and citrusy hops bitterness. The body is silky smooth and creamy with plenty of carbonation to hold it together. The finish is mostly bitter and roasty with a little bit of licorice at the end. Yet another high quality brew from Drake’s and proof that it can brew dark beers as well as its hops bombs.

Chuckaduck (266) - California, USA - DEC 23, 2011
Pours brown-black with a thick dark head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, a touch of peat and some mild hoppiness. Flavor is neither too sweet nor dry; chocolate, coffee, some smoke and a surprising hop character round out this beer making it very drinkable and enjoyable.

Adenila (1470) - DENMARK - DEC 23, 2011
Great beer for displaying delicious malt, not soo strong, not too complicated. Dark brown look, fine medium brown head. Hard roasted malt aroma, mostly chocolate, grain, cocoa and mild vanilla. Great balanced flavor, medium chocolate sweetness, ashy dry feeling, mild peat, mild bitter roasted. Very well craftet.

thetmaxx (497) - West Sacramento, California, USA - DEC 20, 2011
Poured from the 22. Aroma is typical for the style, some dark fruits, and licorice. Palate was like silk, very nice. Flavor is of coffee, and chocolate, very nice. Typical but with a bit extra. Can feel the alcohol, but it doesn’t finish to dry, very drinkable.
