COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A big, malty beast of a beer that exemplifies the way we roll here at Drake’s. Two-row malt is blended with Chocolate malt, roasted barley, and dark Crystal malts to make up the grist. Only one hop addition, Columbus, is added for bittering, allowing the abundance of malt in this beer to shine through. Enjoy the dense brownish head, the silky maltiness, and flavors of licorice, coffee and chocolate, rounded out with a slightly dry finish. here’s to those who don’t fear the mighty!

655 ml bottle. Black and seemingly clear. Small beige head. Caramel and roasted malts. Very rich and complex. Sweetness but body is light enough for it to be very drinkable. Coffe, chocolate, licorice and tar. A classic American imperial stout. Lots of caramel. Delicious.

Bottle:   Nearly black, deep cola hued edges, small to moderate frothy beige head, spotty lacing.   Pale graham cracker on the nose, softer roasted malts, faint dark/unsweetened chocolate.   Similar tongue, roasty, soft hop, a bit ashy but no campfire.   Has elements of bittersweet chocolate and dark pitted fruit, but they aren’t sweet.   This is one of those unsweetened Imperial Stouts.   Thankfully its not overhopped, or else it would be unsweet and overly bitter.   Seems balanced, but could use some sweetness.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Clean finish, lingering ash and roastiness.   Decent, but wished it were a touch sweeter with perhaps a bit more viscous body.

Bottle. Black pour. Tan head. Aroma is mostly licorice with some notes of alcohol and cocoa nibs. Taste is slightly bitter, dark chocolate lingers on the tongue. Lighter body and lower carbonation.

Pours jet black with a thick brown head. Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, roast and caramel. Taste is bitter up front with hops and roast, finishes creamy and chocolatey. Medium mouthfeel, solid beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle, not sure if from Trooper or Bytemesis, either way Thanks! aroma is slightly stale, with a medium roast but the taste is where it shines, light body and full taste make this a decidedly different imperial stout, not cloying or thick but just a well made more flavorful version of a foreign stout (to me) and that really works.

Pours a very dark brown. Nearly no light passes, even when held up to the sun. A narrow, but rich mocha colored head appears. The head fades almost as quickly as it forms. The nose is nice--chocolate liqueur with spent coffee grounds that emerge from time to time. I like the thick, creaminess, but the scrubbiness on the back of the tongue disrupts the smoothness of the mouthfeel just a little too much. Large flavors of chocolate liqueur and notes of a mildly sour wood. The beer finishes quite dry, almost with a coffee acidity. It’s a big ole imperial, but not a stupendous effort. Drake’s has better offerings.

Bomber. Chalkiness was the most predominant distinguishing characteristic. After that, it was somewhat chocolaty, somewhat malty, a little bit of milky sweetness. Maybe some licorice.

Drake’s Drakonic Imperial Stout 2/8/13 notes: bomber. Pours dark brown, nice healthy and fine tan head. Milk chocolate, hop resin, condensed milk, ground coffee, faint coconut on nose. Palate is on the lighter side, but consistent with the slightly diminished alcohol. Big flavors upfront, big hops and roasts lots of roasts, coffee and chocolate. Shifts weight towards truffle, then, surprisingly nosedives into a firm bitterness and woody chocolate. Char and bitterness and toasted marshmellow build in finish.

Bottle, black pour. Notes were roast, malt, cocoa, plum, figs, and roasted marshmallow. Some nice hop notes come through as well. Medium bodied.

Nice thick black pour. Nice brown head. Chocolate light flavor with a medium coffee and molasses.. good stout.. very solid even though this is not my favorite style of beer.
