COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed with extra hops and malt in the English tradition, but with West Coast style. This deep golden India Pale Ale is artfully balanced with a fresh, powerful aroma and a luscious finish.

UPDATED: AUG 31, 2003 Incredible appearance...perfect glowing orange color with a nice thick, sticky, creamy off-white head. The aroma was pure hop...cascade beauty...grapefruit and orange...bitter bite without the burnt character often found in these west coast IPAs. The flavor was large and full...cascade hops give rise to grapefruit, lemon, and orange flavors...some sweet malt...some woody tones. The feel was a little thick (I'm not complaining) but always keeping a refreshing quality. Semi-wet feel...coating the tongue. Superb IPA...one of my new favorites.

Big IPA with a deep amber color in the glass with a good size head. It has a big pine aroma with some grapefruit. Taste is all bitterness. It has some earth notes with some leaves. I was hoping for a little more on the flavor.

12 ounce bottle pour. Dark golden color with a nice white head. Nice bitterness. Full flavored iPa. Nice, but looking for more of a balance,

In short: A well balanced IPA with caramel and citrusy/piney hops. Well done classic execution.
How: Bottle 12oz, consumed fresh one week after receiving it, thanks Alen
The look: Clear golden body topped by a medium off-white head with medium retention
In long: Nose is bursting with typical citrusy and piney American hops. Doesn’t seem to have much (if any) of the new exotic hops in there, this on smells old-school west-cost IPA, nothing wrong with that, quite enjoyable actually. Taste has a solid clean and crisp caramelized malt backbone. Then a good amount of citrusy and pine-tree hops. Bitterness of medium intensity. Carbonation is relatively smooth. The nose presaged a hop-bomb but in mouth this is more like a well-balanced IPA. Overall very drinkable and certainly without any flaw. This is a typical basic California IPA. I feel sorry for all those people who live in California, constantly surrounded by great weather, hot chicks and great IPAs, and because of that they don’t appreciate how lucky they are, that’s gotta be the worst. It has to be the worst, right? Please anyone, I really need someone to tell me it’s the worst.

Poured from the bottle. enjoyed three this beer all afternoon, so my rating maybe skewed... Aroma is of alcohol, not to hoppy which disappointed me. Flavor is much better, nice balanced bitter. Seems like there is grapefruit and citrus flavour. Pretty nice, but based on the ratings I expected better. Palate is thin and watery and finishes dry.

Poured a hazy orange, with a huge two finger head. Great lacing with smells of grapefruit, tangerine, light citrus, and a hint of caramel. Taste is sweet upfront. You can taste the caramel malt throughout and a nice bitter finish. Overall, solid IPA, just a touch malty for my liking.

Poured from a 12-oz. bottle into a pint glass. Color was honey caramel. Tons of head, which I don’t think I can say is a bad pour. This is the second Drake I’ve had in two days where I opened a regular bottle and the foam just started coming out. Anyway, probably four fingers of head. Thick frothy lacing on the top. Some film on the sides, still along the lines of the lacing - frothy and cloudy. Smelled more like a pale ale than an IPA. Once again it reminded me of Drake’s 1500 pale ale. Got some citrus notes and some sweetness. On the taste, once again I’m back to the Drake’s 1500 pale ale. It tastes very similar, just a bit stronger. This is so smooth. Slightly bitter finish, but still good. Some caramel notes and some sweet notes. Medium body. Creamy texture. Lively (above average) carbonation. Long finish. Just a good beer. Smooth and consistent.
